Job description

Shape skylines with Gardner-Watson Decking, Inc

Step onto steel, look out across a new build, and help set the platform every other trade relies on. As a Structural Metal Decking Ironworker, you will install and weld sheet metal decking to steel framing and perform shear stud installation on active construction sites across the country.

A day in the role

You meet the crew at the job site for a daytime shift. After the safety huddle, you move material, lay out deck sheets, and secure panels. You may switch to welding seams or installing shear studs, always following OSHA, customer, and company safety standards. You keep tools in top condition, track time and attendance accurately, and support teammates with additional duties as needed.

What you will do
  • Lay and attach metal decking on steel structures
  • Safely operate hand, power, pneumatic, and powder-actuated tools
  • Install or weld sheet metal decking to steel framing
  • Perform shear stud installation
  • Maintain tools and equipment in proper working order
  • Accurately report daily time and attendance
  • Follow OSHA, customer, and company safety protocols
  • Handle other assigned tasks to keep the project moving
What you bring
  • Reliability, safety focus, and comfort working at heights and outdoors in varied weather
  • 100 percent nationwide travel readiness
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs and work at heights over 40 feet
  • Experience using hand, power, pneumatic, and powder-actuated tools
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Bilingual English Spanish is a plus

Schedule and travel
  • Full-time, hourly role working daytime shift only
  • When a project concludes, travel to the next project in a different city or state
  • Hours vary slightly by active job site and season
  • Current and upcoming sites in NM, TX, VA, AZ, SC, MD, and more
