Calvary Baptist Church of Monticello (Monticello, IL) – Senior Pastor

The Big Picture

Calvary Baptist Church of Monticello, Illinois, (monticello-calvarybaptist.net)

is searching for their next Senior Pastor, as our previous pastor recently accepted a call to service on the staff of the Illinois Baptist State Association. Calvary is a warm and friendly Southern Baptist Church seeking to bring Christ to our community.



Requirements

The Candidate

The Senior Pastor is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the Biblical revelation as the inerrant and inspired Word of God, to engage in and oversee pastoral care ministries, and to provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life.


The ideal candidate will be:

  • Biblical Preacher and Teacher: A Southern Baptist committed to the inerrancy of Scripture, skilled in preaching for diverse audiences.
  • Relational Shepherd and Leader: Builds strong community ties across demographics, balancing tradition with growth through collaborative leadership.
  • Servant-Hearted Visionary: Prioritizes pastoral care, outreach, and evangelism with Christlike humility, engaging both older and younger congregants effectively.


The Church

Our church has been blessed with many good leaders and teachers who are ready to support our new pastor in growing our church spiritually and attracting new families to our congregation. Calvary, a member of the Southern Baptist Convention, is active in giving, community involvement, and missions. The church mission statement is “Loving God, Loving People By Being Disciples Who Make Disciples” and that statement is being fulfilled through thriving children’s, youth, and adult ministries. Calvary averages 125 for Sunday morning services and 80 for Wednesday night services

Monticello, population 6,000, is the county seat of Piatt County, and has a rich agricultural heritage as well as a vibrant small town atmosphere. Our school system consistently ranks as one of the top in Illinois, and we are centrally located within an hour of five university cities.
