Summary/Objective
The Rad Tech Assistant is responsible for assisting the staff technologist as directed. The Rad Tech Assistant must support the mission of providing Sacred Work to all who enter the doors of Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas.
Essential Job Duties
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  1. Safely transport patients to and from the imaging department via bed, stretcher, or wheelchairs. Must be knowledgeable in the use of oxygen units, both mobile and wall units and maintains the correct number of units while in transport.
  2. Maintain infection control principals in removing patients from their rooms and while transporting. Must alert technical staff to infection control status.
  3. Utilize transport equipment knowledgably and safely. Must use transport aids such as slide boards, maxi slides or multiple person lifts when required.
  4. Ensure patients are properly clothes prior to transport while striving to maintain patient privacy and dignity. Notify technical staff of patients arrival in the department.
  5. Assist, as needed, in the reception area checking patients in, answering phones and providing general patient assistance.
  6. Accompany staff technologist on portable x-ray examinations to aid in positioning of patient.

Required Education and Experience
The Rad Tech Assistant must be enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technology Program in good standing with a minimum of 7 months to 1 year of experience
