About Matter Health

Matter Health delivers primary and preventive healthcare directly to older adults living in public housing communities.

Our mission is simple: improve healthcare access by meeting patients where they are and building trusted relationships within the communities we serve. We are growing rapidly across Tennessee and are building a team of missionโ€‘driven professionals who thrive in fastโ€‘paced, peopleโ€‘centered environments.

About the Role

Matter Health is seeking an experienced and strategic Regional Medical Director to provide physician leadership across our Southeast markets. This role will partner closely with operational and clinical leaders to support care delivery, provider performance, quality initiatives, and continued market growth.

Our physicians care for older adults living in affordable housing communitiesโ€”many of whom face significant barriers to accessing healthcare. The ideal candidate is a missionโ€‘driven physician leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for underserved populations while supporting providers and clinical teams across multiple markets.

The Regional Medical Director will serve as a key clinical leader responsible for ensuring highโ€‘quality care delivery while helping drive clinical strategy, provider engagement, operational excellence, and patient outcomes.

This is a highly collaborative role for a physician leader who enjoys building teams, improving processes, and supporting healthcare innovation in communityโ€‘based environments.

What You'll Do
  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight across assigned Southeast markets
  • Partner closely with Operations, Clinical, and Executive leadership teams to support growth initiatives and strategic objectives
  • Support physician and advanced practice provider performance, mentorship, and development
  • Drive quality improvement initiatives and ensure delivery of highโ€‘quality patient care
  • Assist in developing and standardizing clinical workflows, protocols, and best practices
  • Monitor clinical performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with crossโ€‘functional teams to improve patient outcomes and operational effectiveness
  • Support provider recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts
  • Participate in clinical program development and implementation efforts
  • Serve as a clinical ambassador and leader within Matter Health communities
What Weโ€™re Looking For
  • Active MD or DO license
  • Board certification required
  • 5+ years of physician leadership experience preferred
  • Experience leading providers or multiโ€‘site healthcare operations strongly preferred
  • Experience within valueโ€‘based care, population health, primary care, or communityโ€‘based healthcare environments preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationshipโ€‘building skills
  • Demonstrated experience driving operational improvements and clinical initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through growth, change, and organizational expansion
  • Ability to travel throughout Tennessee and the Southeast region as needed (approximately 25โ€“40%)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Multiโ€‘market or regional leadership experience
  • Experience supporting underserved or senior populations
  • Medicare Advantage or valueโ€‘based care experience
  • Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
  • Passion for serving vulnerable, underserved, or aging populations
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships across clinical and operational teams
What Success Looks Like
  • Partner effectively with Regional Operations leadership to drive market performance
  • Support and develop physicians and advanced practice providers across assigned markets
  • Improve quality, patient outcomes, and provider engagement
  • Help scale Matter Healthโ€™s integrated care model throughout the Southeast
  • Serve as a trusted clinical leader who balances operational excellence with compassionate patientโ€‘centered care

We believe that where someone lives should never determine the care they receive. Every team member at Matter Health plays a role in improving healthcare access for older adults who have historically been underserved by traditional healthcare systems.

This is not just a mission statement โ€” it is the work we do every day.

Total Healthcare. Where you live.

Working at Matter Health
