Job description

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in our Lansing, MI office! To be considered, we ask that candidates are licensed engineers.

This position will oversee designer work, provide team technical leadership, perform quality reviews of design packages, and assist directly with the more complex portions of the design process. This position will also play an important role to resolve electrical project related issues, motivate teams, identify problems, recommend improvement, and assisting in achieving department, division and corporate goals. 

Our electrical engineers are experienced in a wide range of projects including power generation and distribution for low voltage to medium voltage, lighting systems, fire alarms, security, and access control systems for advanced manufacturing, office buildings, complex warehouses, renewable energy, and other national clients.  


Responsibilities
  • Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) by performing peer reviews, QAQC on projects prior to submission, and coordinating with supervisor or electrical department leader.
  • Prepare effective work plans and man-hour budgets for approval.
  • Responsible for the quality control/quality assurance process on all assigned projects.
  • Participates in formulating and coordinating proposals and provides other Marketing support, including Business Development.
  • Mentor junior staff in learning sound technical and business practices and enhancing corporate objectives.
  • Assist in verifying that all design aspects comply with local code and apply code provision.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to provide a coordinated design.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering required.
  • 12-15+ years electrical engineering design experience is required of building electrical systems.
  • A licensed engineer in Michigan is required.
  • Solid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and IEEE standards. 
  • Proficient in Revit, AGI Lighting, and power studies (SKM, EasyPower, ETAP) software skills.
  • Extensive design experience with electrical power system equipment/components, such as Swtichgear, transformers, panelboards, generators, grounding, etc.
  • Collaborate with Architects, Engineers, and contractors to provide a coordinated design.
  • Experience leading mid-sized and large projects.
  • Willing to travel to client locations, as needed.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
