Job description

Sorting Operator Lead

Location: Plymouth Pay: $18-$19

Are you looking to work somewhere that values quality, leadership, and long-term growth? We are hiring a Sorting Operator Lead to oversee sorting operations and ensure all products meet quality standards before shipment. This role is responsible for operating and maintaining Cosmec automatic sorting equipment, supporting production teams, and driving quality and efficiency throughout the department.
The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, quality-focused, and comfortable leading others in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Previous manufacturing or machine operation experience required
• Previous header operator experience preferred
• Experience operating automated sorting or inspection equipment preferred
• Knowledge of SAP or ERP systems preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and measuring tools
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Forklift experience required or ability to become certified
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, oils, noise, and required PPE
• Reliable transportation required
• Availability to work weekends as needed

• Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and adjust Cosmec (HTE) automatic sorting and inspection machines
• Lead daily sorting department activities and support operators as needed
• Schedule operators and align production based on demand
• Monitor machine performance, production output, and product quality
• Inspect parts and verify dimensions using measurement tools and gauges
• Make machine adjustments to maintain customer quality standards
• Complete production records, trace cards, and scrap documentation
• Perform minor tool modifications including sharpening and adjustments
• Maintain machine lubrication and preventative maintenance tasks
• Support training and development of operators
• Communicate production updates, concerns, and job changes across shifts
• Assist with implementation of company policies and departmental procedures
• Support tool scheduling and inventory management
• Follow 5S procedures and maintain clean work areas
• Maintain safe work practices and follow all PPE requirements
• Assist wherever needed throughout production operations
