Job description

Responsible for sorting, processing, and weighing scrap materials, operating heavy machinery to move and handle scrap, maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the scrap yard, and ensuring safe and efficient operations by following all safety protocols while working outdoors in various weather conditions; their duties may include loading and unloading trucks, cutting scrap metal with torches, and identifying different types of scrap materials for proper sorting.

Key responsibilities:

  • Sorting and grading scrap:

    Manually or using machinery to separate different types of scrap metal (ferrous, non-ferrous) based on quality and grade.

  • Weighing scrap:

Accurately weighing incoming scrap metal on a scale and recording weight information.

  • Cutting and processing scrap:

    Using cutting torches, shears, or other tools to cut large pieces of scrap into manageable sizes.

  • Loading and unloading trucks:

    Assisting customers with loading and unloading scrap metal from their vehicles.

  • Yard maintenance:

    Keeping the scrap yard clean and organized, including removing debris and disposing of waste properly.

  • Safety compliance:

    Adhering to all safety regulations, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), and reporting any hazards.

We offer a clean well lit facility and a friendly staff that will assist you in identifying and properly disposing of recycled materials. We cater to both residential and commercial accounts and accept anything metal from one pound to several tons.
