Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and reliable composting technician to assist us with composting food scraps collection program. In this role, you will help collect and manage food scraps from designated areas on campus, ensuring they are properly sorted and prepared for composting. You will be responsible for handling organic waste in an environmentally conscious manner and assisting with the overall sustainability efforts of the campus community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with the daily collection of food scraps from various campus locations.
  • Collects and sorts
  • Ensure that food scraps are properly sorted and free from non-compostable materials.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of compost collection bins and stations.
  • Help transport collected food scraps to designated composting areas.
  • Educate students and staff about proper composting practices and encourage participation.
  • Assist in monitoring the composting program's effectiveness and suggest improvements.
  • Perform other related duties as needed to support sustainability initiatives.
  • Professional and friendly attitude to all staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's Christian model and Mission - Training Champions for Christ.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week.

Driving Requirements
If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one's personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver's license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee's position.
