Position Summary:

The 2nd Shift Production Manager will manage the activities and performance of Supervisors to ensure that quality products are manufactured on time, safely, and within budget.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring Sponsorship 
  • Must be able to work 2nd Shift hours 2:00pm-10:30pm (Two Saturdays monthly will be required as well)
  • Must be available to work on-site daily in Hobart, Indiana

Salary Range: $90,000-$120,000K

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manages the department, ensuring efficient and timely production and proper staffing of all department- related requirements to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Manages the Supervisor(s), ensuring their teams are well managed; supports recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures
  • Assigns duties, gives verbal and written instructions, and reviews work for conformance to quality and safety standards
  • Provides technical guidance to team members and consults with other resources when needed
  • Communicates with the Director, Manufacturing regarding schedules and backlogs
  • Works with Project Managers and Engineering as appropriate
  • Determines outsourcing needs to maintain project schedules
  • Reviews labor charges, purchase requisitions, and department schedules
  • Conducts department and CIT meetings
  • Employees are responsible to comply with all requirements of Daifuku’s QMS policies and procedures
  • Employees are to ensure sustainable process outputs that drive continuous improvement to provide leading industry performance and exceptional customer satisfaction

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in the material handling industry

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:

  • Excellent management skills for directing, coaching, scheduling, and assisting team members
  • Technical orientation with ability to learn new technologies
  • Computer skills including MS Office Products 
  • Experience using MRP/ERP system; SAP Preferred 
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
