Job description

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in "valid" Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

For complete program details, please go to our website:www.berklee.edu/se.The Songwriting department seeks a front desk office student employee to perform reception and administrative duties at the Songwriting department office in 135 Massachusetts Avenue. This is a front facing/customer service position that mainly involves helping visitors but will also include assisting faculty/chair with any issues that may arise including office technology (printer/copier, Zoom, Gmail, etc.), and maintaining the office kitchen. Students will be scheduled between 8 and 15 hours a week, Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:00AM and 5:00PM.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for greeting and directing students/visitors and handling basic questions Answer department telephone calls and emails professionally
  • Must direct office visitor traffic to appropriate faculty or chair and operate door buzzer system Help maintain Songwriting Dept social media (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) Maintain office kitchen (clean dishes, clean fridge, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot printer issues and replenish paper and ink
  • Willing to help faculty with any office issues that may arise
  • Help manage general department Gmail accounts
  • Will be asked to create flyer/poster images for events on occasion
Required Skills and Knowledge:
  • Must be able to sit for several hours (though you can stand if you prefer) Responsible, punctual, and willing to help visitors and faculty
  • Should have experience with the layout of the Songwriting Major grid
  • Able to explain credits, prerequisites, and courses to students
  • Must be able to troubleshoot printer/copier (replace paper, fix paper jams) or be willing to learn
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable using Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs (office supplies and paper)
  • Must have experience creating posters/flyers (Canva is fine!)

Amount of Hours: 8-15 per week
