Job description

The Solution Design and Pricing Engineer is responsible for managing all assigned pricing activities, ensuring they are completed accurately and on time. This role partners closely with Operations and Sales to develop customer pricing solutions and support business opportunities. The Solution Engineer also analyzes customer profitability, performs ad hoc financial analyses, and contributes to the monthly financial reporting process to support informed business decisions.

Essential Functions/Specific Responsibilities:

·       Owns and manages the pricing analysis and bid management strategies and databases.

·       Designs dedicated fleet solutions using Direct Route/Resource Pro technology

·       Help develop and maintain a comprehensive RFP and spot bid pricing engine that allows staff to quickly assess potential business for likely win %, estimated potential profit, high and low range of COH (cost of hire), and facilitates efficient bid management.

·       Develops a historical view of key pricing components and develops theories on future direction. 

·       Connects success and failure rates from prior efforts to current projects which includes reviewing the profitability of awards after going live to understand are we obtaining the margin as expected.

·       Develops a strong foundation of our competitive landscape relating to winning contract and spot business and translates this knowledge to commercial sales partners.

·       Understands our enterprise strategies to win market share and business and supports that effort from a fact-based perspective

·       Evaluates the risk profile of a piece of business from a potential profit/loss perspective as well as credit.

·       Brings unique and outside the box perspective to business problems

·       Identifies opportunities to maximize performance and results across our business.

·       Identify and collaborate with operations, sales, and applicable leaders of those groups

 

Skills Required for Success:

·       Microsoft Office skills

·       Attention to detail

·       Time management

Preferred Skills:

·       Advance Microsoft Excel capabilities

·       1 to 2 years experience in the truckload transportation industry

·       1 to 2 years experience using routing and scheduling optimization technologies

·       1 to 2 years experience pricing dedicated fleets

 Education and Experience Requirements:

·       Bachelor Degree Preferred
