The Technology P&C E&S Specialty Emerging Business team supports technology initiatives that enable a dynamic and evolving specialty business. The team partners closely with IT and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that drive emerging business opportunities, innovation, and growth. The Technical Project Manager will bring strong Technology Program and Project Management experience within complex IT environments. In this role, you will lead delivery across technology and business teams, managing project plans, dependencies, risks, budgets, and financial forecasts to ensure successful execution and achievement of business objectives. Candidates must be highly effective communicators with executive presence and the ability to tailor messages for technical teams, business partners, and senior leaders. Success in this role requires the ability to navigate diverse stakeholder perspectives, balance competing priorities, and build alignment in a complex, matrixed environment through influence and collaboration.

Key Requirements

Technology Program Management and/or Technical Project Management experience. Proven success leading complex technology initiatives, including budget management, forecasting, risk mitigation, dependency management, and executive‑level reporting. Strong facilitation, relationship‑building, and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated success leading cross‑functional teams through influence rather than direct authority. Flexibility to support meetings and project deliverables across multiple time zones, as needed. The ideal candidate is proactive, adaptable, and comfortable operating in ambiguous environments. They can provide clarity, maintain momentum, and build stakeholder confidence while driving complex initiatives from planning through delivery.

Work Arrangement

This position follows a hybrid work schedule and requires employees to work on‑site two days per week at one of Nationwide’s office locations in Scottsdale, AZ; Des Moines, IA; or Columbus, OH. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of one of these locations.

Work Authorization

This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization. Nationwide does not participate in the STEM OPT Extension program.

Delivery leaders are expected to have an end‑to‑end viewpoint on delivery, manage dependencies, remove blockers, engage partners, manage financials, maximize vendor relationships, and enable an iterative delivery of value. You will need to keep pace with software delivery and organizational change methods and tools. Delivery leaders should also understand relevant Financial and Agile/Lean/DevOps tools and techniques.

Key Responsibilities

Drives the End‑to‑End delivery of expected business outcomes, realization of benefits as outlined in the business case, drives incremental value, drives incremental planning, and drives dependency scope definition. Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities. Responsible for the communication, critical issues, visibility, change management guidance to deliver business outcomes. Key contributor in the facilitation of contract negotiations, statement of work development and vendor oversight toward expected goals. Drives the prioritization of deliverables, handles moderate to complex issues/risks, governs dependencies. Is responsible for the delivery of status/health reports to drive value delivery tracking (ex: KPIs), optimizes the flow of value and ensures demand/capacity is handled. Works with medium to large project/product financials. Serves as a professional to others around delivering business outcomes, benefit realization, agile delivery, and Lean. May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reports to Delivery Leader or Business Solution Area Executive.

Typical Skills and Experiences

Education: Undergraduate studies (bachelor’s degree preferred) in management information systems, engineering, math, computer science, data analytics or comparable experience and education strongly preferred. License/Certification/Designation: Technology certifications or PMI, SAFE, Agile or Lean designations are encouraged. Experience: Six or more years of experience in technology or related field. Three years demonstrated proficiency in delivering outcomes/projects. Awareness of emerging technologies and/or industry trends. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Ability to make decisions and recommendations. Aptitude to influence, establish relationships and set priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of associates, senior management and/or vendors. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus. Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence. Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

The national salary range for Consultant, Delivery Leader : $118,000.00-$222,000.00
