RANGE: Adjunct instructors are hired on a semester basis and are paid per lecture hour equivalent (LHE). Minimum (less than a masters) and Maximum (Doctorate).
DESCRIPTION
Antelope Valley College invites applications for our adjunct (Temporary, part-time) faculty applicant pool for the following Adjunct Advanced Manufacturing CAD/CAM Instructor.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
  • Instruct students in the assigned discipline
  • Develop curriculum for courses
  • Develop SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for equipment
  • Recommend purchase requests for materials and tooling
  • Assignment may include teaching courses during the day, evening, and/or off-campus
  • Ability to work close with industry partners

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Minimum Qualifications: (Applicant must meet one of the following requirements)
  • Minimum Qualifications for Faculty in California Community Colleges:

Any Bachelor's degree AND two years professional experience OR any Associate's degree AND six years of professional experience. (Academic Affairs Division, California Community Colleges)
Area: CAD (Computer Aided Design)
  • College work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to a Baccalaureate degree and two years of related occupational experience in the discipline; or, college work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to an Associate's degree plus six years of occupational experience related to the discipline, OR
  • Eight years of experience in the design and development occupation, two years of which must have included assignment as a supervisor, instructor, trainer, or owner of an aircraft maintenance facility.

Area: CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing)
  • College work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to a Baccalaureate degree and two years of related occupational experience in the discipline; or, college work, military training, or nationally recognized certifications equivalent to an Associate's degree plus six years of occupational experience related to the discipline, OR
  • Eight years of experience in the manufacturing and design occupation, two years of which must have included assignment as a supervisor, instructor, trainer, or owner of an aircraft maintenance facility.
  • Antelope Valley College Equivalency: No current equivalency

ANDSensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic background of community college students.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Advanced knowledge of part creation, assembly, and drawings within the following 3D CAD programs
    • Solidworks and/or CATIA / 3DExperience
  • Advanced knowledge of CAM toolpath development within the following programs
    • Fusion 360, Solidworks, and/or CATIA / 3DExperience
  • Advanced knowledge of CNC mills, CNC lathes, CNC plasma cutters, laser cutters
    • Including programming, operation, tooling, and safety
  • Ability and/or evidence related to developing training aids
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Evidence of a commitment to teaching/learning and vision of a learning-centered institution and community
  • An understanding of how technology can support learning and a record of support for technological advancements
