The Architecture Lab Technician role is technology-based service position that supports the Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Landscape Architecture students & staff onsite at 601 Brannan Street, primarily through tech-support and printing supervision.
Architecture Computer & Print Lab Responsibilities:
  • Assists students with printing needs, including printer set up, file setup, and support when needed.
  • Ensures printers & plotters are in good working order.
  • Assists instructors with classroom support as needed.
  • Assists students with hardware and software support to complete assignments in a computer laboratory setting.
  • Helps maintain, diagnose, and repair computer equipment, and arranges for repair or replacement when necessary.
  • Assists with tasks related to maintaining inventory, updating software and computer hardware, and ensuring proper storage and backup of software.
  • Protects equipment from theft of vandalism.
  • Provides support and assistance to Department Director(s).
  • Reports to Lab Manager and escalates any support needs when appropriate.
  • Maintains guidelines set forth by the Academy of Art University.
  • Maintains a clean, functional, and productive learning environment.
  • Assist MPT with proxies, and file backups
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Windows and Mac-OS operating systems.
  • Familiarity with Zoom and the use of webcams & sound input/output devices.
  • Preferred knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Autodesk Revit and Autocad, McNeel Rhino 8.
  • Ability to learn and support hardware such as the Meta Quest 3 VR Headset and other VR devices, as well as associated software.
  • General Knowledge of computer error and network troubleshooting.

Compensation: $22.00/hour

The Academy also offers full-time employees an opportunity to take one undergraduate course tuition free each semester.
