POSITION SUMMARY:

Delivers excellent classroom experiences through a guided review of application/analysis level exam-style questions to prepare students for the NCLEX examination.

ESSENTIAL TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and retain knowledge related to all aspects of the NCLEX including knowledge of test format, test strategies and latest in NCLEX test plan changes.
  • Utilize mentoring skills to help guide students of all levels in achieving their highest scores on online practice exams as defined by the course syllabi.
  • Demonstrate excellent presentation & communication skills
  • Motivate and engage students to actively participate in online discussions, journal entries and computer generated NCLEX tests
  • Maintain online asynchronous or synchronous communication with students in online discussions, to assist them in achieving course objectives.
  • Actively monitor and document individual student progress and provide remediation and direction as needed.
  • Provide active and ongoing classroom management
  • Assist the VN Program Director with the evaluation of courses taught for accuracy and quality; and to enhance course design.
  • Assist with the revision of course syllabi, selection of textbooks and other teaching aids as appropriate.
  • Supervising the study and learning activities of enrolled students through quizzes, homework review, and class interactive questioning
  • Providing tips on test-taking and study-habit best practices to the students
  • Be able to alter the instructional methods to best meet the student needs in the classroom
  • Providing conceptual study guides to each class no later than the class session prior to any scheduled exam
  • Requesting instructional aides and utilizing available aids to enhance the learning experiences of the students.
  • Evaluating the academic progress of the students and provide periodic feedback to the VN Program Director
  • Developing "remediation" plans for those students who have received non-passing grades or for other reasons to improve students' academic performance.
  • Submitting to the program Coordinator, the grading process associated with the instructional plan established for the course(s).
  • Participate in the annual evaluation and goal setting processes and periodic updates on goal acquisition with the Director of Nursing.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
  • MSN or BSN required
  • Current, unencumbered license as a RN
  • Clinical nursing experience within the last 5 years required
  • Prior NCLEX instructor experience within the last 2 years preferred
  • Previous teaching/training experience required
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation and leadership skills
  • Excellent dosage calculation skills
  • Effectively facilitate learning, active and ongoing classroom management
  • Attend faculty meetings and professional development workshops as required
  • Must be flexible with schedule and available weekends
  • Traveling between campuses is expected
