Job description

Are you ready to bring your Engineering/Drafting skills to a team that values precision and innovation?  At Martin Sprocket & Gear, we're dedicated to producing quality mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings with excellence. We're looking for a skilled Drafter like you!

What You’ll Do:

  • ERP Management: Utilize Microsoft AX to create items, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and production routes.
  • Quality Control: Review BOMs and production routes prior to Engineering Quality Control (QC).
  • Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to ensure alignment with customer requirements.
  • Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the production process.
  • Inventory Verification: Confirm material and component allocations in AX and Item 360.
  • Drafting and Design: Produce general arrangement drawings and detailed layouts as needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with Sales and Production teams to meet project specifications and requirements.
  • Project Management: Handle multiple projects independently with strong self-management skills.
  • Deadline Management: Ensure project timelines are met and deliverables are completed under time constraints.
  • Interdepartmental Exposure: Engage directly with various departments to gain insight into diverse manufacturing processes.
  • Team Contribution: Support a team-oriented approach to meet deadlines and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Quality Focus: Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to accuracy and quality in all tasks.
  • Additional Tasks: Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Education: University or college degree in a mechanical-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of design/drafting experience, ideally in bulk material handling, industrial, or custom steel fabrication.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with manufacturing environments, such as production planning.
  • Material Knowledge: Strong understanding of raw materials like sheet, plate, pipe/tube, and round bar.
  • Communication Skills: Proficient in English, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Organizational Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities, ensuring accuracy in all work.
  • Multitasking: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively in a team.
  • Safety Compliance: Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Reliability: Punctual, responsible, and dependable.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: High level of mechanical aptitude.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems, particularly Microsoft AX (preferred), and advanced skills in AutoCAD and Inventor (mandatory); Solid Edge experience is a plus. Advanced skills in AutoCAD and Inventor (mandatory); Solid Edge proficiency is a plus.
  • Adherence to Standards: Ability to follow established protocols and quality standards consistently.

Your Schedule:

Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM and Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

To perform this job successfully, you must be able to report daily to the branch to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
