Quality Assurance Analyst

Waterloo Ontario (Hybrid)


PolyML is a fast-growing AI/ML company developing next-generation machine learning and analytics platforms that transform complex data into actionable insight. Our solutions help organizations improve operational performance, reduce risk, and make better decisions across manufacturing, financial services, and other data-intensive industries.

As PolyML continues its transition from advanced ML innovation to scalable commercial solutions, we are seeking a QA analyst to work with our engineering and data science teams to help us make our core technology accessible to customers. This is a ground floor opportunity within an early stage startup.

Working closely with executive leadership, technical teams, and clients, you will take ownership of establishing and evolving PolyML's QA capability for our core technology, with an early focus on scalable test automation and test-driven development practices, as well as managing all QA processes . This role will play a critical part in helping PolyML scale our core technology into market ready solutions.

What You Will Own

  • Developing QA test requirements and plans and processes
  • Collaborating with application development and product management to understand and document test cases
  • Implementing automated tests across multiple programming and scripting languages
  • Reporting on Software Quality metrics
  • Performing manual tests to supplement automation


Responsibilities

Test development

  • Assess requirements and identify documentation gaps
  • Translate product and system requirements into automated tests that validate intended functionality and behaviour
  • Define & implement testing scripts
  • Work with development team to automate testing scripts

Quality Review

  • Monitor and report on critical Software Quality metrics (e.g. coverage, code smells, defect rates)
  • Assess system-identified issues and raise issues as required
  • Perform manual quality checks as needed

QA Integration

  • Support shift-left practices for QA and quality processes
  • Enable continuous testing and scanning practices, to maximize early detection
  • Work with developers to embed quality expectations into the SDLC

Release Review & Support

  • Provide comprehensive pre-Release QA reporting and documentation
  • Review and test deployment plans before final release
  • Document and track defect escapes to ensure QA gaps are closed promptly


What We're Looking For (Must-Haves)

  • Strong hands-on experience designing and building automated testing solutions, including in situations where established frameworks or off-the-shelf tools are not available
  • Previous experience working with integration, regression, and performance/load testing
  • Experience testing APIs and data pipelines, including data integrity and transformation logic
  • Demonstrated scripting and programming experience with the ability to learn new technologies
  • Professional exposure to CI/CD workflows, including testing and quality tools
  • Strong technical aptitude with the ability to quickly develop a working understanding of complex concepts, products, technologies, and customer use cases
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments


Nice-to-Haves

  • Previous experience working in an early stage rapidly growing tech company.
  • Experience working within AI, machine learning, analytics, software, or technology organizations
  • Exposure to product development, technology commercialization, or innovation programs
  • Experience supporting client-facing projects in manufacturing, financial services, or other regulated industries
