Job description

Our mission is simple but ambitious: to use AI to fix the broken economics and lost humanity of care. If you want to move fast and help build the future of healthcare with heart, you belong at Arya.
About the Role
Arya is looking for a strategic and hands-on Lead QA Engineer to build and lead our quality function as we scale our AI-powered automation platform. This is not just about executing tests - it's about defining the quality bar for the company.
You will own QA strategy end-to-end: setting standards, designing scalable automation frameworks, embedding quality early in the product lifecycle, and ensuring our platform is reliable, secure, and trusted by healthcare operators who depend on it daily.
This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who can think systemically, operate at startup speed, and build a modern QA function from the ground up.
What You'll Do
QA Strategy & Leadership
  • Define and own Arya's QA vision, roadmap, and quality standards
  • Establish scalable QA processes, tooling, and release quality gates
  • Embed quality practices early in the SDLC (shift-left testing mindset)
  • Partner with Engineering and Product leadership to align on quality metrics and risk tolerance
  • Mentor and guide engineers on testing best practices
  • Hire and build the QA team as the company scales
Automation & Technical Ownership
  • Architect and maintain robust automated testing frameworks (E2E, integration, API, regression)
  • Increase automation coverage across critical workflows
  • Establish CI/CD quality gates and test reporting standards
  • Design performance, load, and security testing strategies
  • Ensure data validation and integrity across complex workflows
Quality Operations
  • Own the defect lifecycle and root-cause analysis processes
  • Define release readiness criteria and sign-off standards
  • Track and report quality metrics (test coverage, defect trends, release stability, etc.)
  • Proactively identify system risks and edge cases before production

What We're Looking For
  • 6+ years of experience in QA / Software Testing
  • 2+ years leading QA initiatives, projects, or teams
  • Proven experience building QA processes in startup or high-growth environments
  • Deep understanding of test strategy, automation architecture, and CI/CD integration
  • Hands-on experience with tools like Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar
  • Strong scripting/programming skills (Python, JavaScript, or similar)
  • Experience testing APIs (REST, GraphQL) and validating data with SQL
  • Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., k6, JMeter, or similar)
  • Strong analytical thinking and systems mindset
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills

Bonus:
  • Experience in healthcare technology
  • Experience testing AI-driven or data-intensive platforms
  • Experience implementing QA in regulated or compliance-heavy environments

What to Expect in the First 15-30-60 Days
By Day 15
  • You've audited our current QA processes, tooling, and gaps
  • You've reviewed core workflows and identified quality risks
  • You've aligned with Engineering and Product on quality priorities
  • You've proposed an initial QA roadmap
By Day 30
  • You've implemented measurable improvements to test coverage
  • You've introduced automation or improved an existing framework
  • You've defined release quality gates and regression standards
  • You're contributing QA insights at the product design stage
By Day 60
  • You fully own the QA function and release confidence
  • Automation coverage has meaningfully increased
  • CI/CD quality checks are embedded into our pipeline
  • Quality metrics are being tracked and reported consistently
  • You're seen as a quality leader and trusted partner across the company

What We Value
  • Think Like a Customer
Quality is trust. Healthcare operators rely on our system every day.
  • Own the Outcome
You don't just find bugs - you build systems that prevent them.
  • Build for Scale
You design processes and frameworks that grow with the company.
  • Teach and Learn Consistently
You elevate engineering standards across the team.
  • Communicate Simply
You articulate risk clearly and drive alignment quickly.
  • Be Kind
We treat bugs as learning opportunities and teammates with respect.

What We Offer
The Basics
  • Competitive salary + meaningful equity
  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Flexible PTO
  • Performance bonuses tied to company impact
  • Wellhub subscription with access to premium fitness facilities
The Multipliers
  • The opportunity to build and lead QA from the ground up
  • Direct influence on product reliability and engineering standards
  • Collaboration with a high-caliber engineering and product team
  • Work that directly impacts healthcare workers and patient care
