POSITION: Sr. EPC Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr. EPC Project Manager will be responsible for managing multiple utility-scale solar and battery storage projects throughout the U.S. They will take the lead from late-stage development through construction and transition to Heelstone's Operations team. This position reports to the SVP of EPC Management and is a full-time position located in Durham, North Carolina.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mentor and support EPC team members, providing technical guidance and leadership.
  • Lead the most complex projects, including risk management, with minimal oversight from management.
  • Project lead on multiple projects through varying stages of construction.
  • Responsible for indicative project pricing, budget forecasting, budget management, cash flows, expense tracking, tracking of project risks, and cost-saving strategies to ensure projects are completed within financial constraints.
  • Support Development with project permitting, community outreach, and landowner relations.
  • Run EPC Contractor RFP's, including setting up data rooms, answering RFI's, reviewing bids, and making recommendations on award.
  • Provide procurement support for material selection and logistics coordination for owner-supplied material.
  • Negotiating EPC contracts, including exhibits, and then managing the agreements, including change orders.
  • Ensure all required deliverables are received from the EPC contractor, including complete invoice packages, weekly and monthly reporting, and major milestones (MC, PiS, COD, SC, FC).
  • Coordinate the overall project construction schedule for solar and battery storage projects, including but not limited to construction permitting, engineering drawings, long lead equipment procurement, RFP release, contractor selection, punch-list management, utility interconnection, project closeout, and project turnover.
  • Ensure safety, environmental compliance, and quality standards are upheld throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead with Heelstone Construction Manager(s) to effectively manage each project and for construction progress and status tracking.
  • Travel to active construction sites to provide oversight, review project status, and maintain relationships with EPC contractors (40-50% of time).
  • Support M&A efforts.
  • Support project financing efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.


SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALITIES

  • Highly proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Primavera, Bluebeam, Procore, CAD, and Google Earth Pro.
  • Civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering knowledge.
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter that operates well in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment.
  • Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership of projects and responsibilities, and resolving issues proactively.
  • Ability to work concurrently on a variety of projects, prioritize efforts, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organization and management skills.

EDUCATION/PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 years of solar project management experience, including experience taking projects from preconstruction through handover to operations.
  • Managing budgets over $50 million per project.
  • Experience at an IPP is preferred.
  • BESS and or wind experience is preferred.
  • Familiar with project development software (CAD, GIS, Microsoft Project).
