What are solar technologies?

Solar technologies are systems and devices that capture energy from the sun and convert it into usable forms such as electricity or heat. The most common solar technologies include photovoltaic panels, which generate electricity, and solar thermal systems, which produce heat for water or space heating. These technologies are used in residential, commercial, and industrial settings to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and lower energy costs. As solar technology advances, it becomes more efficient and accessible, helping drive the global transition to renewable energy.

What is the difference between Solar Technologies vs Solar Panel Installer?

QE Solar is known for an owner's mindset in delivering consistent quality and service to our clients with a sense of urgency because we know maintenance issues impact the bottom line.
QE Solar is seeking a Licensed Herbicide Applicator to support vegetation management at utility-scale
solar facilities. This position is responsible for the safe and effective application of herbicides to control
vegetation growth around solar arrays, fencing, and infrastructure. The role ensures vegetation does

with environmental regulations and company safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Apply herbicides and other vegetation control treatments at solar generation sites in accordance
with state licensing requirements and environmental regulations.
• Perform vegetation control activities including spot spraying, broadcast spraying, and integrated
vegetation management techniques.
• Maintain accurate records of herbicide applications, chemical usage, and treatment locations in
accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Inspect solar sites for vegetation growth that could impact equipment, access roads, fencing, or
electrical infrastructure.
• Mix and prepare herbicide solutions following label directions, safety procedures, and company
protocols.
• Maintain and calibrate spraying equipment including backpack sprayers, ATV sprayers, and truck-mounted systems.
• Ensure compliance with EPA, state pesticide regulations, and QE Solar environmental policies.
• Coordinate vegetation management schedules with site managers and operations teams.
• Follow all company safety policies including PPE requirements and safe chemical handling
procedures.
• Assist with general site maintenance activities when vegetation work is complete.
Required Qualifications
• Valid State Herbicide/Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain within required timeframe).
• 1-3 years of experience in vegetation management, herbicide application, landscaping, or
agricultural spraying.
• Knowledge of herbicide labels, mixing ratios, and environmental compliance requirements.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working at solar farms, utility sites, or large industrial properties.
• Knowledge of integrated vegetation management (IVM) practices.
• Experience operating ATVs, UTVs, or agricultural spray equipment.
• OSHA safety training or environmental compliance training.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to walk long distances across uneven terrain.
• Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and carrying equipment.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, windy, and dusty outdoor environments.
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Travel
Travel may be required to multiple solar sites within the assigned region.
This position requires:
  • Working in indoor and outdoor environments, including solar sites, construction sites, and industrial facilities, in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.)
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing on uneven terrain
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 50 pounds or more, with or without assistance
  • Use of hands and fingers to operate tools, testing equipment, and technical devices with precision
  • Ability to safely climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and near energized equipment while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols
  • Visual acuity to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documents, and to identify potential hazards
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, harnesses, arc-flash protection, and other job-specific gear
  • Effective verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members, supervisors, and other trades in active work environments
