Step Into Your New Role

Kleinfelder is seeking a Civil Design Engineer to join our growing southeast engineering team. The ideal candidates will participate in and contribute to a diverse range of engineering projects and services in our team-oriented environment. Under the direction of experienced engineers, you will gain exposure to Industrial & Commercial Land Development, Solar, Mining, and other engineering projects.

This position will be based in Raleigh or Charlotte, North Carolina.

Under supervision and working with experienced staff, the successful candidates will complete civil engineering designs and the generation of construction plans and specifications, technical calculations, exhibits and reports in the following areas:

  • Utilize Civil 3D including alignments, profiles and grading features to produce engineered construction plans and sheet set ups.
  • Basic understanding of Site Grading & Storm Drainage, Erosion and Sediment Control and Storm Water Best Management Practices with strong desire to learn and an interest in civil engineering design
  • Variety of Civil 3D Plans, maps, and exhibits
  • Work in conjunction with civil engineers and project leaders to develop engineering designs
  • Follow project schedules and allotted hours by Project manager
  • Follow internal and/or client procedures and standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail, strong problem-solving and good communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team player, take direction, and interact well with others
  • Evaluating design alternatives to solve constructability, code, and site challenges
  • Performing site visits to perform job scoping and coordinate with survey crews, SUE, Geotech, etc.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and with team members

Position Requirements:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution or acceptable equivalent
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certificate preferred
  • Basic knowledge and experience using AutoCAD is required.
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D is preferred.

Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check.
