Job Summary

Dominion Energy is installing 1,000MWac of solar generating capacity per year. The Solar Project Construction Team manages the execution of solar projects from 1MW to 150+MW through Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) contracts. The group is organized into several sequential teams; Development, Diligence, Pre-Construction, Execution, and Close-Out. A Construction Project Manager is needed, and will be assigned to the Solar Close-out Team, which oversees contractor punchlist completion, permit closure, and EPC contract termination. This position will report to a Manager of Project Construction and oversee closeout of the project once turned over from the Solar Construction Team. Generally, the close-out scope is being performed by the EPC contractor. However, there are times when specific scopes are managed outside of the EPC contract. The Construction Project Manager will manage specific aspects of the project as assigned by the leader, such as technical, construction, quality, cost, and schedule. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely and efficient delivery of project deliverables. Support closeout of solar projects, including adherence to safety standards, ensuring environmental compliance, system turnover packages, system walkdowns, punch list management, coordination with operations, and system documentation. Provide regular/accurate reports on project status, milestones, risks, and issues to the project manager or leader and other relevant parties. Review/provide input on contract Change Orders, Contractor Notices, Milestone Completion Certificates, and other commercial documents. Identify and implement opportunities for improvement and innovation in project management processes and practices. Contribute to the overall success of the project and carry out additional tasks as requested or given.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Construction Project Manager III: 5+ years experience in leading and managing complex projects, or managing multi-functional teams in a matrix environment

  • Detailed technical knowledge of renewable power generation, large power plant systems/equipment/operations, power distribution/transmission systems, complex construction projects, and/or Virginia E&S/stormwater regulations
  • Technical skills, including the ability to read and prepare technical specifications and drawings. Some station and engineering experience preferred
  • Schedule and cost management experience
  • Strong communication and integration skills
  • Ability to build relationships and provide leadership in a team environment
  • Ability to analyze information and make sound decisions
  • Valid drivers license in order to operate a company vehicle
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office products, SAP products, Adobe products, Bluebeam, scheduling software
  • Has solid knowledge of project management principles, methodologies, tools and best practices, and applies them to solve project problems and issues.
  • Demonstrates skills in leading, motivating, and coaching project teams and stakeholders, and in managing changes, risks, and uncertainties.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with diverse audiences, using appropriate verbal, written, and visual techniques.
  • Ability to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control, and close complex projects within time, cost, and quality constraints, using project management tools and software.
  • Ability to create and sustain a positive project culture, adapt to changing project requirements and environments, and implement lessons learned and best practices.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with project management, budgeting, scheduling, and risk analysis. Knowledge of power generation, transmission, distribution, and energy markets. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
