Job Description

The Solar Performance Analyst will serve as a primary data and performance analytics resource, providing technical support to a growing solar operating fleet. This role is responsible for transforming plant-level operational and meteorological data into actionable insights and business intelligence to optimize asset performance and enable data-driven decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain operational metrics, KPIs, and standardized reporting frameworks that convert SCADA, met, and plant data into actionable performance insights.
  • Clean, validate, and process raw operational datasets, identifying and correcting data quality issues such as sensor errors, data gaps, and outliers.
  • Transform and structure time-series and relational data into scalable formats suitable for dashboards, automated reporting, and advanced analytics workflows.
  • Design, develop, and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations that effectively communicate plant and fleet performance to operations, engineering, asset management, and executive stakeholders.
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations engineering, asset management, and site teams to develop analytical tools that identify, diagnose, and resolve system underperformance.
  • Manage recurring plant and fleet performance reporting, proactively identifying trends, anomalies, degradation, and optimization opportunities.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses to quantify energy production and revenue impacts associated with equipment outages, curtailment, weather variability, availability losses, and operational events.
  • Support regulatory, contractual, and compliance reporting requirements through accurate data preparation, validation, and documentation.
  • Utilize AVEVA PI System tools-including Asset Framework (AF), Analyses, and Event Frames-to develop real-time monitoring, calculations, and performance tracking solutions for solar assets.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • 6 months to 2 years of experience working with operational, industrial, or renewable energy asset data in an analytics, engineering, or performance monitoring role.
  • Strong proficiency in Python for data analysis, automation, and performance modeling using large time-series datasets.
  • Experience designing and maintaining dashboards and reports in Microsoft Power BI or comparable business intelligence platforms.
  • Ability to clean, validate, and transform raw SCADA and telemetry data into structured datasets suitable for analytics and reporting.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical insights into actionable recommendations for cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Requirements

  • Working knowledge of SQL for querying, transforming, and managing large-scale time-series and relational data sources.
  • Familiarity with utility-scale solar photovoltaic system operations and performance metrics such as availability, performance ratio (PR), capacity factor, and degradation.
  • Experience analyzing weather and irradiance data, including POA, GHI, and temperature-based performance impacts.
  • Hands-on experience with the AVEVA PI System, including development and maintenance of Asset Framework hierarchies, templates, attributes, and analyses.
