Job Description
Responsible for the safe, proper and efficient operation and maintenance of the assigned solar plant. Position is responsible for the operating and monitoring of equipment and records operational data and reports any abnormalities. Perform minor maintenance task and assists higher level technicians in the operations and maintenance of the power plant. Overtime, shift work and travel may be required. Work is performed under supervision and direction from the maintenance manager.
Responsibilities
  • Performs other technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facility.
  • Inspect and monitor equipment to detect malfunctions, need for repair, adjustment or lubrication.

  • Ensures work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements.
  • Must be able to perform work independently and/or in work crews.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications
This is a multi-level posting. Applicants may apply for positions for which they possess at least the minimum education and/or experience. Applicants with experience beyond the minimum will be considered for the advanced levels.
Associate Solar Technician
  • High school diploma or general education degree; with one to three years of experience or related education of power plant operation/maintenance or equivalent education and experience.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical fundamentals of PV systems in power facilities.
  • A valid US driver's license is required.
  • Salary Range: $28.51 - $40.24

Solar Technician I
  • A two-year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman certificate/qualification is preferred. High school diploma or general education degree. (Typically, one year of demonstrated knowledge of one or more years of experience in a power plant or PV Solar Operations/Maintenance /EPC experience is required for candidate applying for this position who do not possess a high school or general education degree.)
  • Two plus years of field experience with significant experience in one or more of the following: Instrumentation/Electrical, Instrument and Control (I&C), and/or C&I Electrician experience will be considered in lieu of applicable solar experience.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilities.
  • A valid US driver's license is required.
  • Salary Range: $32.84 - $46.35

Solar Technician II
  • Possess a two-year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman certificate/qualification and four years of solar field experience. Significant Instrumentation & Electrical experience, Instrumentation & Control and/or C&I Electrician experience will be considered in lieu of applicable solar experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and system problems; detect and correct faulty instruments and control devices; install special or sensitive instruments. Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (Journeyman skills) such as electrical measurements, control circuits and solid-state theory application.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of PC software application, including spreadsheet, word processing and database.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as periodicals, electric diagrams, regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence accurately. Ability to communicate orally, use acceptable telephone and radio etiquette necessary to communicate needs.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts, including percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Effective ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • A valid US driver's license is required.
  • Salary Range: $37.74 - $53.22
