Job description

Solar Installer. Powering Texas, One Rooftop at a Time.

Austin, TX | Full-Time | On-Site

Some jobs put panels on roofs. This one puts power in people's hands - and you're the one who makes it happen.

Freedom Power was born when Freedom Solar and Freedom HVAC joined forces to become Texas's complete whole-house energy company. We don't just install solar systems. We hand homeowners the keys to something bigger: control over their energy, their bills, and their future. We call it Energy Empowerment, and it's not a tagline - it's the reason we show up every day.

If you've got construction know-how in your hands and hustle in your blood, this is your shot to do work that actually matters. You'll be part of a tight crew installing 1kW-30kW solar systems on residential homes across Austin - racking, DC and AC equipment, commissioning, testing, all of it. No two rooftops are the same, and every system you bring online is one more family taking control of their energy future.

Competitive pay with performance bonuses on top.

What You'll Do

  • Attend daily safety meetings before any work is performed on-site - safety is non-negotiable.
  • Install racking systems per manufacturer specs and Freedom Solar plans across a variety of residential roof types.
  • Install DC and AC equipment per plans and local codes.
  • Commission and test PV systems safely, including voltage testing from 10V-1000VDC and 120V-480VAC.
  • Make field changes as needed and communicate clearly with the Project Manager.
  • Drive company trucks and trailers safely to and from job sites.
  • Support the crew lead and Regional Operations Manager with other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Residential solar installation experience (required)
  • Valid driver's license and clean MVR - required to drive company vehicles
  • OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 preferred
  • Apprentice Electrical License preferred
  • Electrical experience strongly recommended
  • Knowledge of local electrical codes and residential PV design and components
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring schematics, and electrical instructions
  • Background in construction trades - roofing, carpentry, or metal framing is a plus

The Physical Side

  • Comfortable on rooftops, ladders, and at heights - every day
  • Able to lift 50-75+ lbs routinely throughout the day
  • Good with bending, stretching, squatting, and sustained physical effort
  • Unbothered by Texas heat (100F+), cold snaps, or wet conditions - you work in all of it

What's In It For You

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 100% Company-Sponsored Short-Term Disability
  • 401(k) Employer Matching
  • Weekly Pay Dates
  • 3 Weeks PTO + 3 Sick Days
  • 12 Paid Holidays + 1 Floating Holiday
  • Upward mobility opportunities

One More Thing

One of our favorite core values is Give a Damn - and that's exactly what we're looking for. We hire for grit, craftsmanship, and character as much as resumes - and we're always excited to discover skills we didn't know we needed.
