Job description

Job SummarySun Tribe EPC (“Sun Tribe”) is Virginia’s premier utility-scale solar design and build firm, specializing in sub-20MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) facilities. Our construction efforts are focused throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, Maryland, and neighboring states. At Sun Tribe, we build with purpose—prioritizing safety, quality, and environmental stewardship in every project we deliver.
The Construction Manager plans, directs, and oversees construction activities for assigned projects. As a critical part of the delivery team, the Construction Manager is fully accountable for construction outcomes of the project. They will develop construction execution strategies during preconstruction and will monitor, manage, and drive projects to remain on schedule and within budget, while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and design standards and alignment with Sun Tribe’s core values throughout the construction process.
This position reports directly to the Regional Director, Construction Management, and works closely with other key staff including project management, project engineering, quality, EHS, clients, and subcontractors.
 Principal Responsibilities
  • Serve as the on-site leader and primary point of contact for utility-scale solar construction projects, ensuring all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Sun Tribe standards and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate subcontractors, trades, inspectors, and field teams to achieve project milestones and quality expectations
  • Monitor daily construction progress, document work using Procore, and manage field reports, safety observations, and redlines
  • Drive site logistics including material receiving, equipment mobilization, infrastructure setup, and workforce coordination
  • Lead jobsite meetings, workforce planning, and execution of punch list and closeout activities
  • Actively identify and resolve field issues, clarify scope through RFIs, and protect Sun Tribe’s contractual and operational interests
  • Support change order tracking, environmental compliance, and documentation required for project and owner reporting
Basic Qualifications Required
  • Education required: High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, or a related technical field preferred
  • A minimum of two (2) years of construction, project management, or related experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead field teams, subcontractors, and trades in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Current, valid driver’s license and eligibility for corporate vehicle insurance coverage
 Skills & Experience Preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Proficiency in Procore or similar construction management software
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous improvement, both individually and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with MS Project or similar scheduling software
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work well on teams; leadership and delegation skills a plus

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Some evening and weekend work is required
  • Willingness to travel and work at project sites throughout Virginia and neighboring states as required
  • Standard work hours may be changed based on emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite
  • Requires approximately 10% office work and 90% field work. Construction planning is expected to take place at the Sun Tribe EPC office in accordance with Sun Tribe EPC policies regarding work from home flexibility
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at a time
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards
  • Wearing of standard personal protective equipment while on project sites
     
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation for this position will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
