Solar Installation Manager
Company: Venture Home Solar
Location: Stamford, CT (with travel to local branches)
Job Type: Full-Time
Role Overview:
Venture Home Solar is seeking a highly skilled and entrepreneurial Installation Manager to lead, optimize, and scale our Solar Installation Department. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee all aspects of residential solar installation operations, bridging the gap between field execution and operational strategy.
Your primary objective is to build and lead a high-performing installation team that consistently delivers safe, efficient, and high-quality installations while maintaining profitability and an exceptional customer experience. You will leverage your extensive solar installation, electrical, and roofing expertise to support field teams, improve installation processes, and collaborate with internal departments to develop scalable systems and workflows that support our continued growth.
If you are a technical expert who enjoys leading teams, improving operations, mentoring installers, and building efficient processes, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Profitability:
Department Leadership: Lead the daily operations of Venture Home Solar's Installation Department, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
Operational Performance: Manage labor productivity, installation costs, and departmental KPIs while driving continuous operational improvements.
Scheduling & Resource Planning: Oversee installation scheduling, crew assignments, equipment allocation, and material readiness to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
Installation Readiness: Develop and optimize processes that ensure installation crews leave the warehouse fully prepared with the correct materials, equipment, permits, plans, and job documentation.
Training & Development: Recruit, train, mentor, and develop installation crews and field leaders through ongoing technical, safety, and leadership training programs.
Field Leadership & Technical Excellence:
Installation Oversight: Serve as the primary technical resource and escalation point for complex installation challenges involving solar, electrical, roofing, and structural components.
Quality Assurance: Perform regular field audits and quality inspections to ensure all installations meet Venture Home Solar's workmanship standards and manufacturer specifications
Code Compliance: Ensure all installations comply with NEC requirements, OSHA regulations, local building codes, utility requirements, and manufacturer installation standards.
Roofing & Structural Expertise: Utilize advanced roofing knowledge to evaluate installation conditions, ensure roof integrity, and address field challenges while protecting manufacturer and workmanship warranties.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Project Coordination: Partner closely with Sales, Engineering, Permitting, Project Management, Warehousing, and Customer Success teams to ensure projects move seamlessly from contract through installation.
Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with equipment manufacturers and suppliers to resolve technical issues, improve installation procedures, and support new product implementation.
Customer Satisfaction: Support field teams in resolving installation concerns quickly while delivering an exceptional customer experience throughout the installation process.
Process Improvement & Technology:
Operational Systems: Design, document, and continuously improve installation workflows, standard operating procedures, and field processes.
Software Development Collaboration: Work closely with the internal development team to identify operational needs, map installation workflows, and implement software solutions that improve scheduling, communication, quality control, and field productivity.
Performance Metrics: Monitor installation KPIs including cycle times, crew productivity, quality scores, safety metrics, customer satisfaction, and callback rates to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience: Extensive background in residential solar installation with progressive leadership experience managing installation teams.
Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of residential solar systems, electrical work, roofing systems, structural mounting methods, and commissioning procedures.
Code Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of NEC, OSHA regulations, local building codes, utility interconnection requirements, and manufacturer installation standards.
Leadership: Proven experience building, coaching, and managing high-performing installation teams while creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Operations Mindset: Strong organizational, scheduling, logistics, and process improvement skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Technology: Experience utilizing CRM, project management, scheduling, and field service software. Ability to translate operational needs into scalable technology solutions.
Communication: Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Location/Travel: Based full-time in our Stamford, CT office, with the willingness and ability to travel to local branches and job sites as needed.
Why Venture Home Solar?
