As a solar electrician apprentice, you train under the supervision of a journey-level solar electrician to learn the skills needed for the job. As a student, you help install, repair, and maintain solar energy equipment such as solar panel systems. Your duties include assisting with the installation of new solar panels and the rehabilitation of existing equipment. You also work with related devices such as battery storage units and net metering systems that connect the solar panels to the electrical grid. Your training involves working in an outdoor environment throughout the year. Apprenticeships also involve classroom work.
