Job description

Job Summary:
The EMS Instructor will develop and instruct EMT classes, delivering the material assigned for the chosen day, per the course schedule, in an effective manner. This person will coordinate skills lab, review days, registry testing, or other activities during an EMT class. This position is hourly, non-exempt.
Duties/Responsibilities:
• Developing and delivering lectures.
• Teaching skills per the Ohio skills sheet and the book chosen for the course.
• Complete appropriate paperwork for the day's assignments.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Ability to test skills objectively.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Ability to effectively instruct others.
• Excellent interpersonal and observational skills.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student issues.
• Ability to maintain control of a classroom environment.
Education and Experience:
• Active Ohio EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic certification.
• Current Ohio EMS Instructor certification.
• At least one year of teaching experience preferred but not required.
• Current CPR Card.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to perform all operations necessary for training.
• Must be able to assess proficiency of trainees.
