Overview

This position sits within our Product Development division, which develops, tests, and improves our software solutions in an innovative and collaborative environment.

 

The Opportunity

An Associate Software Development Engineer (Test) at ConstructConnect is a developer with the primary responsibility of ensuring software quality.  This is predominantly done through developing test strategies, creating / updating test automation code, executing tests (both automated and manual), and analyzing / troubleshooting defects.  It is a unique and challenging role that combines the "building" aspect of software development with the "breaking" aspect of software testing. While they are responsible for all quality activities within their team, the focus is on collaboration and writing code that automatically verifies application changes. 

Associate SDET's are expected to have competency both in software development and are learning modern software testing practices. They collaborate with product development teams to ensure the delivery of high quality, high value product features. They seek to understand how our customers use our products and applications, and the technical implementation of them.  They ensure our sites, products, and platforms perform to industry-beating quality levels by designing, developing, and maintaining automated solutions using Python / Pytest that support the development, testing, and deployment of our software solutions.  Associate SDET's are expected to take responsibility for work and follow through on commitments but are supported by their team and more senior SDETs.  Asking for help is expected and a positive attribute of our teams!  

Responsibilities

What You'll Be Doing

  • Gain product and application expertise through product documentation, internal collaboration, and customer feedback 
  • Develop test strategies / plans / scenarios and acceptance tests and leverage AI-assisted tools and technologies 
  • Design, build, and execute test cases, including manual and automated frontend / backend tests on one or more application platforms, such as Desktop and Web  
  • Create and maintain automated tests in Python / Pytest 
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and report test results 
  • Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines 
  • Actively participate in design and code reviews to design and implement stable, testable, high-quality services and functionality. 
  • Operate within an Agile framework, adapting to iterative development cycles and contributing to scrum ceremonies  
  • Pursue continuous learning and professional development to stay abreast of industry standards and new technologies

Qualifications 

What You Bring to the Team

  

  • BS degree in Computer Sciences, programming or a related discipline or demonstrable equivalent experience   
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming Principles, Data Structures, and Algorithms  
  • The ability to keep current with the constantly changing technology industry. 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills  
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills 
  • Python development experience preferred 

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • The physical activities of this position include frequent sitting, telephone communication, working on a computer for extended periods of time. Visual acuity is required to perform activities close to the eyes.  
  • Team members are expected to maintain a dedicated and ergonomically appropriate remote workspace. 
  • Team members who live within commuting distance of our office location (Atlanta, Georgia) are expected to work in a hybrid capacity, with regular in-office presence every Tuesday and Wednesday each week.
