SPECIAL EVENTS CHILDCARE SUPERVISION
JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Special Events Childcare Supervision                               FLSA STATUS: Supplemental                  
REPORTS TO: Event Coordinator / Director of HR                               PAY GRADE: SUP - S02 (per hour)
LOCATION: Varies by event site within Adams 14                                ASSIGNMENT: Single Date

JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY
The Special Events Childcare Supervision position provides safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate supervision to school-age children during Board of Education and District (OR Board of Education and DAC) events, training, or meetings. Employees in this role support the Adams 14 community by ensuring that participating families can fully engage in district programs while their children are cared for in a secure and positive environment.
REQUIREMENTS
Education Level Details
High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Coursework or certification in early childhood education, education, or a related field preferred.
License or Certification
Early Childhood Professional Credential 3.0 - Level 1 Certification
Substitute Certification highly preferred
Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Work Experience Required
Previous experience working with school-aged children (ages 3-12) in an educational or childcare setting is preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities Required
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with school-age children.
Knowledge of Colorado's Early Learning and Development Guidelines.
Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach when working with school-age children.
Ability to lead with behavior management.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational software; Teaching Strategies GOLD preferred.
Physical capability to actively engage with children and meet their developmental needs.
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Child Supervision & Care
  • Provide attentive, developmentally appropriate supervision to children during district events.
  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of children at all times.
  • Engage children in age-appropriate games, crafts, and activities.
  • Support transitions between activities and maintain orderly group routines.
     
Health & Safety
  • Maintain a clean and organized supervision area.
  • Follow district safety and emergency response protocols.
  • Monitor children for signs of illness, distress, or behavioral concerns and report to the event lead or supervisor immediately.
  • Follow sign-in and out attendance protocols.
Professionalism
  • Maintain positive, respectful interactions with families, colleagues, and children.
  • Demonstrate dependability and punctuality for all assigned shifts. Follow Frontline protocols to submit timesheets appropriately at the conclusion of each event worked.
  • Uphold district policies, including confidentiality, professional conduct, and equity standards.
Other
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of district events.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required by Colorado's early childhood education standards.
   COMMITMENT NOTICE This position is available only to current Adams 14 part-time and full-time employees in good standing. Assignments will be scheduled as needed throughout the school year.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS
The physical demands, work environment factors, and mental functions described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. The role may involve providing specialized care, including potential diaper changing.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee will primarily work in classrooms, gyms, cafeterias, playgrounds, or other designated childcare areas during district-sponsored events. The employee may also be required to assist with set-up or supervision in hallways or common areas. The work involves frequent interaction with children, staff, and families in active and dynamic settings.
The employee may be required to work evenings and weekends, depending on the district's event schedule. In the event of a district closure or other emergency, employees may be temporarily reassigned or required to provide virtual supervision support, as appropriate. Noise levels in the work environment are typically moderate to high, and the position may require standing, bending, lifting, or moving materials related to childcare activities.
Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, compare, analyze, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, and use interpersonal skills. Occasionally required to compile, copy, compute, and negotiate.

Adams 14 is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits and complies with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. We offer a competitive and comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, financial security, and well-being of our employees.
Compensation for this supplemental position is set to $20.00 per hour outside regular contractual hours for the 2025-2026 school year, based on duties completed and as outlined in the Adams 14 Supplemental Pay Schedule.
