Software Systems Architect
Kegman Inc. is a Women Owned/Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business headquartered in Melbourne, FL and provides engineering and technical support services to U.S. Government clients. We are seeking a Software Systems Architect to join the team supporting the Air Force Technical Applications Center at Patrick Space Force Base in Melbourne, Florida.
NOTE: This is not a remote/telework job. This job requires the selected applicant to have an active U.S. Government-issued security clearance at time of hire and, therefore, requires U.S. citizenship.
Kegman is seeking a skilled Software Systems Architect to serve as the principal technical advisor to the government program manager. This is a critical leadership role focused on migrating decades-old legacy applications to a modern, secure, and scalable enterprise-grade cloud platform.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the principal technical advisor, defining the target IT architecture, providing strategic direction, and hands-on guidance to team members.
  • Define the complete technical vision, architectural roadmap, and governance framework for an enterprise-grade AWS (or similar) cloud platform.
  • Develops and lead the architectural roadmap and strategy for modernizing and migrating decades old legacy applications to the cloud, focusing on re-platforming, data transformation, and performance optimization.
  • Ensure the cloud platform is secure, scalable, and compliant with stringent government requirements, while managing cost-efficient operations, and implementing best practices.
  • Establish technical standards and proactively identify and mitigate architectural risks.
  • Evaluates scalability, resilience, and futureproofing of architectural platforms.
  • Translate complex technical concepts for a wide range of stakeholders and customers. 
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other relevant field of study
  • Relevant 5+ years of experience
  • Certifications: AWS Solutions Architect Associate, TOGAF Standard, MCSE, CISSP
  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT architecture principles.
  • Proven experience as a technical advisor and leader on large-scale modernization projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, migrating, and managing enterprise-grade cloud platforms (AWS or similar) through the software development life cycle.
  • Demonstrated experience with modernizing legacy applications, including re-platforming/re-architecting.
  • Strong grasp of programming languages for modern systems.
  • Hands-on experience in network administration or IT systems.
  • Deep understanding of cloud architecture, including security, scalability, and compliance.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to effectively lead cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with technical reviews, audits and methods to detect vulnerabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification

  • U.S. citizenship required. 
  • Must have a fully adjudicated (not an interim) Government clearance.
  • Must pass a drug test.
