Overview

We are looking for a Software Release Manager to bring structure, clarity, and predictability to software releases across our OEM product families. In this role, you will connect product priorities, engineering capacity, release readiness, and cross-functional decision-making so our teams can deliver high-quality software with confidence.

Reporting to the Director, Program and Process Management, this is a high-impact role for someone who enjoys working at the centre of product, engineering, project management, DevOps, and business stakeholders. You will help translate product direction into executable release plans, facilitate alignment across competing priorities, and continuously improve how software releases are planned, governed, and delivered.

Responsibilities

Release Planning:

  • Develop and manage software release plans across NovAtel Positioning and Agriculture OEM product families, ensuring approved product priorities are translated into clear release schedules, release content, and delivery commitments.
  • Own the software release roadmap, including release sequencing, capacity planning, release timing, release scope planning, and release plan ratification.
  • Integrate Software Release Plans with other product roadmaps to ensure successful product launches
  • Facilitate cross-functional trade-off discussions by providing capacity, dependency, schedule, and release impact analysis to support business decisions.
  • Support the transition of releases from planning into active development and maintain alignment between release plans and active project execution.

Release Governance and Delivery:

  • Govern change management across OEM FW products and release versions, including changes traceability, fix version management, release baselines, and release readiness.
  • Coordinate release readiness reviews, release checklists, build sign-off activities, and release approvals.
  • Own release-level oversight of branching and merging strategies, propagation guidelines, and the flow of changes across active releases.
  • Establish and maintain governance processes to ensure software compliance obligations are monitored and maintained as part of release readiness activities.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve software release management processes, metrics, operating procedures, and governance practices.
Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent technical experience
  • 5-10 years of industry experience in software engineering, release management, and/or project management
  • Experience developing and maintaining product roadmaps, release plans, or complex delivery schedules
  • Ability to facilitate complex decisions, present trade-offs clearly, and gain alignment across stakeholders with different priorities
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical and delivery information in a clear, practical, and audience-appropriate way.

Key Success Factors:

  • Experience in creating and maintaining product roadmaps or release plans
  • Strong facilitation skills with a proven ability to drive complex decisions to closure
  • Ability to influence others by presenting compelling arguments to support positions
  • You enjoy tackling challenges with tenacity and good humor
  • Strength in building collaborative working relationships through shared understanding, open communication, and constructive problem-solving.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment as well as the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan, execute, control, and complete projects of various magnitude
