Job description

The Manager of Software Project Management leads and develops a team of project managers responsible for delivering complex automation and software-driven material handling solutions. This role ensures consistent project execution, adherence to TGW project management standards, effective resource utilization, and successful customer outcomes across multiple concurrent projects. The position acts as the primary people manager for project managers while partnering closely with engineering, controls, software, sales, and executive leadership.
What you'll be handling
  • Manages the day-to-day activities, performance, and professional development of a team of software project managers to ensure effective, consistent, and high-quality project delivery.
  • Establishes, standardizes, and continuously improves project management processes, tools, and best practices across projects.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and guidance to project managers on project planning, scheduling, risk management, cost control, customer communication, and escalation management.
  • Oversees portfolio-level planning, including resource allocation, workload balancing, and prioritization across multiple active projects.
  • Reviews and supports project execution including scope definition, schedules, budgets, change management, and delivery milestones.
  • Acts as an escalation point for project risks, customer issues, and internal coordination challenges.
What you'll need
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience delivering software solutions, preferably in a material handling environment.
  • Travel: Up to 20% domestic and international travel.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor project management professionals.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and stage-gate processes.
  • Excellent risk management, forecasting, and escalation judgment skills.
