Job Family Definition:

Designs, plans, develops, and manages a portfolio of HPC/AI management and solution software products through the leadership of a team of software product managers across the full solution lifecycle: from new product definition and enhancements to planning, development, and end-of-life. Responsible for both building and leading a high-performing product management team and ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality product outcomes across the software portfolio.

Management Level Definition:

Leads and manages a team of software product managers responsible for HPC/AI management and solution software. Contributions impact both team effectiveness and the successful execution of product strategy and delivery across the portfolio.

Applies advanced subject matter expertise to guide, coach, and support product managers in addressing complex business and technical challenges while ensuring alignment to broader product direction. Recognized as a leader who enables teams to execute effectively and deliver meaningful results.

Balances people leadership and product accountability-setting clear expectations, driving accountability, and ensuring high standards of execution, while also providing direction and oversight on product priorities and roadmap decisions.

Partners closely with Software Architects, Engineering leaders, and other Product Management leaders to ensure alignment between team execution, technical architecture, and product goals. Exercises independent judgment in team management, prioritization, and resolving complex trade-offs.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages a team of software product managers, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management.
  • Sets clear goals, expectations, and accountability for the team, ensuring alignment with business and product objectives.
  • Drives both team performance and product execution, ensuring delivery of high-quality roadmaps, requirements, and outcomes.
  • Conducts regular 1:1s, feedback, and career development planning, supporting growth and development of product managers.
  • Provides guidance and oversight on product direction, helping shape priorities and ensuring alignment across the portfolio without owning every decision directly.
  • Enables product managers to operate effectively and independently, while stepping in to support complex decisions, trade-offs, or escalations.
  • Establishes and maintains consistent product management practices and operating rhythms (planning, prioritization, roadmap reviews).
  • Ensures effective coordination across product managers and product areas, driving alignment and reducing duplication or conflict.
  • Partners closely with Software Architects and Engineering to ensure product plans are feasible, well-aligned, and executable, and that teams are set up for success.
  • Drives execution discipline, ensuring commitments are met and delivery quality is consistent across the team.
  • Identifies gaps in team capability or execution and implements coaching, process improvements, or structural adjustments.
  • Supports portfolio-level alignment and contributes to broader product strategy through team leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Develops talent and builds a strong internal pipeline through mentorship, succession planning, and leadership development.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in software product management or related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in people management, including managing product managers.
  • Experience in HPC, AI/ML, distributed systems, or infrastructure software environments.
  • Proven track record of leading teams and delivering complex software products or platforms.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong people leadership and team development skills, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Ability to balance team leadership with ownership of product outcomes and execution quality.
  • Experience driving cross-functional alignment and execution in complex technical environments.
  • Strong business and product acumen, with the ability to guide teams in prioritization and decision-making.
  • Solid technical understanding of HPC/AI software systems to effectively collaborate with architects and engineers.
  • Ability to establish and scale effective processes, operating models, and team practices.
  • Strong communication and influence skills across technical and business stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment in managing trade-offs, team dynamics, and delivery commitments.
