7-Eleven's Store technology team is looking for an experienced Software Engineering manager who enjoys collaborating with a team of engineers, designers, and product visionaries in transforming our legacy retail platform into a cloud-based platform and innovate on latest technology, creating awesome products that millions of people experience every day.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Capable of leading and mentoring multiple scrum teams of engineers to successfully design, develop, and deliver engineering solutions.
  • Leads teams of engineers, including offshore resources, on assigned engineering projects by providing clear direction, relevant documentation, and practical guidance.
  • Have a passion for hands-on coding, defining product backlog and putting the customer first and delivering an exceptional experience through the creation of extensible and re-usable products & services.
  • Innovation, assessing requirements that are said and unsaid, performing proof of concept, developing solution and code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders.
  • Mentor engineering team members on technical decision making, code reviews and enforcing engineering practices and standards.
  • Identifying short- and long-term solutions and timeline; reviewing and providing feedback for proposed solutions; and performing design and code reviews of changes.
  • Actively engages in product and business discussions with a technical eye for feasibility and adherence/defining overall roadmaps and architectural strategy.
  • Focus on improving current software development practices, standards and regulations
  • Research new technologies to support 7-Eleven's digital transformation vision.
  • Fully familiar with Agile/Scrum methodologies and development practices.

Basic Qualifications:

EDUCATION: Bachelors/4 Yr Degree

YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: 10+ years

YEARS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE: 3+ years

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering.
  • 10-12 years, System Design Skills and Experience in large scale enterprise application.
  • Experience in payments and retail domain is a plus.
  • Technical Breadth with multiple Disciplines: Software engineering, Integration, Data Security, Cloud etc.
  • SAFe Agile experience: from design through development, testing, implementation, production, and support.
  • Hands-on Development skills and usage of Key Technologies - Java, React, NoSQL, DynamoDB. REST-based applications development; Spring Framework; APIs, JavaScript, DevOps CI&CD
  • Strong Experience in AWS Cloud platform and its features including containerization, EC2, Fargate, SNS, SQS, API Gateway, Lambdas, Auto Scaling, S3, and Kinesis.
  • Solid understanding of Enterprise architecture, microservices and event driven architecture
  • Experience building systems to handle large volume of transactions at scale
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to take initiative, independently drive work to completion, and execute with a strong sense of ownership and urgency.
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability responding to production support issues with urgency and driving timely resolution.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers by providing technical guidance, fostering sound decision-making, and promoting ownership and accountability for building and operating scalable services and applications.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and quickly troubleshoot and resolve issues in complex software applications.
  • Stays on the leading edge of software development tools and best practices.
  • Self-directed with a start-up, entrepreneur mindset.
