For those who would rather be in the field than behind a desk, the Field Installation Engineering Department combines technology, travel, and hands-on problem-solving. Engineers travel across North America installing advanced pharmacy automation systems, working with robotics, technology, and equipment at customer sites. This role also offers extensive travel, paid overtime opportunities, daily per diem while on the road, company-paid hotel and meal expenses, and the ability to keep airline miles and hotel points earned during business travel.

Job Summary: The Field Installation Engineer is responsible for taking ScriptPro's pharmacy automation equipment from shipment to a fully operational system. This individual will assemble equipment, connect hardware and electrical components, configure software, test system functionality, and troubleshoot issues on-site. This position requires a blend of technical aptitude, hands-on mechanical and electrical skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to travel domestically and internationally. 

Reporting Relationship: Manager, Installation Operations

Shift: General start time of 7 am, hours and schedule vary daily based on customer demand. This position requires 85% travel with trip duration generally between 4 – 12 days. Travel time is included, resulting in an average of 20-30 hours of overtime paid per pay period. Regular, punctual, and predictable attendance is an essential function of every job at ScriptPro. 

Scope of the Role:

  • ScriptPro System Installation and Setup: 
    • Perform on-site installations of ScriptPro's pharmaceutical automation equipment and system solutions, adhering to specific procedures and standards, both domestically and internationally
    • Ensure all installations are completed accurately and efficiently, meeting project timelines and pharmacy operational requirements across diverse geographic locations
    • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise during the installation process, focusing on ScriptPro-specific hardware and software in various settings.
    • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including safety guidelines and pharmacy-specific regulations
  • Mechanical and Electrical Tasks: 
    • Utilize mechanical skills to assemble, install, and adjust ScriptPro equipment, ensuring precise alignment and functionality
    • Apply basic electrical knowledge to connect and configure electrical components within ScriptPro systems, using tools such as voltmeters, adapting to different electrical standards as needed
  • Driving and Transportation:
    • Operate a truck and trailer safely and efficiently, including backing and maneuvering in various environments, to transport ScriptPro equipment, adapting to international driving regulations as necessary
    • Adhere to DOT requirements and maintain accurate electronic logs, including international driving logs when applicable
    • Ensure the safe transport of sensitive and valuable ScriptPro equipment and materials to installation sites, both domestically and internationally.
    • Manage the import and export of ScriptPro equipment through customs at border crossings, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations
    • Adhere to all international travel requirements and documentation standards
  • Technical Proficiency: 
    • Utilize Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams) for documentation, communication, and data management related to ScriptPro installations
    • Demonstrate a basic understanding of network connectivity concepts, including LAN, VPN, WLAN, IP addresses, and MAC addresses, as they relate to ScriptPro system integration in diverse network environments
    • Troubleshoot desktop and peripheral issues related to ScriptPro software and hardware effectively, including adapting to language and cultural differences
    • Utilize the Internal Knowledge Base, Installation specific SOP’s and Siebel for information, documentation and support specific to ScriptPro products
  • Customer Service, Communication and Analytical Skills:
    • Deliver exceptional customer service while serving as the primary point of contact between pharmacy staff, ScriptPro Field Operations, and internal teams, ensuring timely communication, issue resolution, and seamless service delivery.
    • Build strong relationships through clear verbal and written communication, maintaining a positive and professional approach while effectively navigating diverse customer environments, cultural differences, and evolving on-site needs.
    • Identify and resolve technical and logistical issues specific to ScriptPro installations effectively
    • Use analytical skills to diagnose problems and implement solutions tailored to ScriptPro equipment, adapting to different technical environments and standards

Required Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of experience in a hands-on role such as automotive, construction, landscaping, maintenance, installation, warehouse operations, or similar environments
  • Experience driving a truck and/or towing a trailer in a work or personal setting
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electrical and/or mechanical systems
  • Proficiency in Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams), and basic networking concepts
  • General knowledge of industry best practices and technologies related to pharmaceutical automation
  • Passing score on new hire aptitude test, technical training courses on ScriptPro systems, and ScriptPro provided certifications
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and push up to 700 lbs. on wheels to move ScriptPro equipment
  • Ability to perform physical tasks as required for the job, including working in tight spaces within pharmacy environments
  • Ability to pass DOT Physical and driving road tests
  • Ability to travel 85% of the time, including multi-hour flights and long-distance driving 
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record, including international driving experience if applicable
  • Must have or be able to acquire a valid passport and be able to travel internationally without any disqualifying factors that would prevent entry into other countries
  • Excellent customer service skills, particularly in a healthcare or pharmacy context
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong work ethics and attention to detail, especially in a regulatory environment

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Valid passport or REAL ID preferred; company assistance available

  • Additional technical certifications related to automation or pharmacy technology
  • Experience with international travel and customs procedures
  • Bilingual skills (French and Spanish)

Compensation and Benefits: 

The compensation range for this role has been established at $22.00-24.00 hourly. In addition to base pay, this position offers significant earning potential through overtime opportunities. Employees may also receive a daily per diem while traveling, a company credit card for hotel and meal expenses, and the ability to keep airline miles and hotel points earned during business travel. The final agreed-upon compensation may be higher or lower and is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. Working Conditions: 

This position encompasses both office and workshop environments. Requires routine use of standard equipment and extended computer use. Employees may work near and around various conditions such as dust, odors, oil, fumes, and noise. May be exposed to moving mechanical parts and tools, electrical components, and all-weather conditions. This position is very active and regularly required to stand, walk, sit, squat, stoop, bend, reach, and use hands and fingers. Ability to push, pull, and lift independently, encompassing all lifting positions from floor to overhead is required. Motor coordination, tool use, focused attention during extended periods of travel, and specific vision abilities, including close, distance, and color vision, are required. Ability to learn and solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions are required.
