Job description

Senior Software Implementation Specialist

Journal Technologies is seeking a high‑energy, results‑oriented project professional to support eCourt projects for our growing software and services company. The successful candidate will have a background in software rollouts, including requirements gathering, environment setup and install, configuration/development, training, go‑live, and support.

The Software Implementation Specialist (SIS) will work as a member of the eCourt team. The SIS is responsible for delivering contracted products and services, including reports, business rules, and general software configuration. The SIS will interact with customers as the primary representative for Journal Technologies and coordinate and complete a variety of activities during the configuration process. The Software Implementation Specialist will be a standing expert on Journal Technologies’ product offerings, internal implementation processes, and the customer’s business processes.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strong technical implementation lead with experience configuring and delivering complex software solutions.
  • Strong experience with Velocity development and architecture is required, with Groovy scripting highly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, guide solution architecture, mentor team members, and drive successful project outcomes.
  • Comfortable working across databases, interfaces, business rules, and application configuration.
  • Configure and customize case management software by designing and implementing forms (screens), searches, user permissions, and workflow steps to meet client requirements.
  • Support and enhance data conversion and integration activities by:
  • Analyzing client data specifications and performing data mapping to system requirements.
  • Reviewing and validating data conversion files for accuracy and integrity.
  • Designing and executing validation processes to ensure data quality.
  • Identifying, escalating, and recommending solutions for discrepancies or errors.
  • Contribute to document and report development by:
  • Analyzing client reporting and document requirements.
  • Drafting technical specifications and assisting in the design and development of reports using Jasper, Crystal Reports, or Microsoft SQL Reporting Services.
  • Gathering requirements and participating in document template development (e.g., eSeries templates, JDA).
  • Provide technical training and support by:
  • Assisting in conducting administrative and end‑user training sessions (on site or online).
  • Delivering advanced technical support during go‑live events, including troubleshooting system‑level issues and submitting bug tickets when defects are identified.
  • Design, execute, and optimize test plans for configuration and customization tasks, including unit and end‑to‑end testing of integrated workflows; document results, analyze failures, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot system issues by interpreting server and application logs, diagnosing root causes, applying technical judgment to resolve issues, and escalating when appropriate.
  • Contribute to solution optimization by identifying opportunities for efficiency, scalability, and maintainability in implemented configurations and customizations.
  • Establish and reinforce best practices for configuration, coding standards, and system testing; may perform code reviews to ensure compliance with standards and maintain quality.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional project teams including project managers, implementation specialists, and developers to design and implement effective technical solutions within defined timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with workflows, standards, and security requirements, exercising independent judgment to maintain accuracy and consistency.
  • Continue developing technical expertise in databases, reporting tools, system configuration, and scripting languages through training and mentorship.
  • Travel may be required to support training, go‑lives, or other project activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (advanced certifications such as PMP or CAPM are a plus but not necessary).
  • 9+ years of professional, full‑time experience working with relational databases, preferably T‑SQL or PL/SQL, including advanced experience in designing, querying, and optimizing data structures for integration and performance.
  • Demonstrated experience as an Implementation Specialist or in a software deployment/systems integration role, with responsibility for designing, configuring, customizing, and testing technical solutions.
  • Proven ability as an analytical thinker, capable of evaluating complex problems and developing multiple technical approaches to resolution using discretion and judgment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for technical audiences, peers, and clients, with the ability to translate business requirements into system specifications and technical designs.
  • Hands‑on experience with systems analysis and software customization, including configuration, business rule development, data mapping, and report/template development.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot server and application logs, identifying root causes and designing corrective solutions.
  • Understanding of computer networks, including firewalls, routing, and data exchanges, to support integration and security considerations.
  • Proven ability to design, document, and execute test plans, including unit testing and end‑to‑end testing, to validate technical configurations and ensure compliance with client requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercising discretion and judgment in technical matters, while collaborating effectively within project teams.
  • Experience mentoring and training junior staff, including reviewing work, providing technical guidance, and reinforcing best practices.
  • Must be able to travel as needed to support project implementations, training, and go‑live events.
  • Experience working within Agile teams or formal training in Scrum or Agile methodologies is considered a strong asset.
