AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking our next Systems Support Specialist III AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a Systems Support Specialist III to support the NISSC 3 program at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California. This role delivers technical and operational support for multiple mission systems by providing onsite and on call coverage for system administration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and user support in a TS/SCI environment. The Systems Support Specialist will ensure continuous mission support, accurate asset management, and compliance with operational and documentation standards. Responsibilities • Deliver onsite and on call technical and operational support for mission systems at Vandenberg SFB, including system administration, monitoring, and health checks. • Perform troubleshooting and corrective actions for hardware, software, network, and system performance issues impacting mission operations. • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance, including software updates, patches, configuration changes, and performance tuning. • Provide Firstline user support and basic training, resolving access, connectivity, and usage issues. • Collect, maintain, and update operational logs, incident and deficiency reports, and standardized checklists in accordance with program requirements. • Perform incident response, including initial triage, escalation, coordination with higher tier support, and closure documentation. • Execute backup and restore operations in support of mission and continuity of operations requirements, ensuring data integrity and availability. • Support system administration and database support activities as needed to maintain operational readiness. • Oversee procedural compliance, ensuring all records, logs, and reports meet required operational, security, and audit standards. • Act as a technical resource for performance optimization, data integrity, continuity of operations, and support to management for status reporting and reviews. • Coordinate with operations management, configuration management, logistics, and engineering teams for upgrades, configuration changes, asset tracking, and disposition activities. Qualifications • 7 - 10 years of experience in systems or network administration, systems support, or related technical roles in a secure, mission critical (DoD or similar) environment. • Solid understanding of property accountability practices, asset tracking, and inventory management systems in a technical or laboratory environment. • Proven skills in asset cataloging, recordkeeping, and disposition planning for government or defense related equipment. • Experience coordinating with operations management and supporting configuration management requirements (e.g., tracking configuration items, maintaining inventories). • Demonstrated attention to detail and compliance orientation to support audit readiness and process documentation. • Knowledge of safety, handling, and secure storage of sensitive or classified assets is advantageous. • Experience supporting incident response, backup/restore, and user support in an operational setting is highly desirable. • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, OR Equivalent DoD/Military training in systems administration, network operations, or a related technical discipline. • Minimum: Active TS/SCI clearance required to start. • Holds a DoD 8140 qualifying certification; one or more of the following (or equivalent) is required/preferred: - SecurityX / CASP+ - CCNP Security - CISA - CISSP - CISSPISSAP - CISSPISSEP Notice of Anticipated Employment Opportunities These positions are being posted in anticipation of future employment opportunities, which may become available beginning around June 2026.
