Job Summary

Works on a variety of control system projects. Capable of leading several project related tasks and/or large, strategic projects simultaneously. Leads and develops a team. Ultimately responsible for technical and commercial success of a project. Takes direction and seeks guidance from supervisors and company leadership.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science; Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or other pertinent curriculum combined with relevant technical experience.
  • Typically, 13+ years of experience.
  • Proven Track Record: 3+ years as Sr. Engineering Team Lead or equivalent.
  • Professional Engineering Licensure and/or recognized industry certification(s) that are commensurate with requirements of job.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Technical Responsibilities:
    • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology of domain expertise. Maintain advanced level of professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, benchmarking best practices, and participating in professional associations.
    • Communicate and coordinate with other technical resources to provide recommendations, lessons learned, and other improved methods to deliver projects to maximize contribution to multiple projects.
    • Collaborate with the Business Development (BD) Team to develop technical proposals and presentations to internal and external customers to influence business decisions.
    • Collaborate with project managers of multiple projects at once to ensure technical deliverables are executed accurately on a timely and under budget basis.
    • Provide supplemental expert feedback, advice and mentorship to teams based on industry experiences, including specialized technical, financial, and operation perspectives.
    • Drive the company’s overall design philosophies and procedures.
    • Actively share knowledge and provide impromptu training to other personnel on technical and professional issues.
    • Expert in understanding, practicing, and guiding others in the use of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
    • Proficient in Microsoft Project or equivalent management software tools.
  • Customer Service:
    • Communicate in an effective, positive, and proactive manner with customers.
    • Follow customer specific site standards and procedures.
    • Always conduct business in professional manner.
    • Provide excellent customer care and support.
    • Be patient, attentive, and responsive to customers in solving their problems.

  • Project Responsibilities:

    • Assume the ultimate responsibility for the successful completion of those projects or tasks on schedule and under budget.
    • Take on the role of the customer’s main contact on those projects that the employee is assigned to lead.
    • Identify changes in scope to overall projects and/or tasks.
    • Provide support on other projects or tasks that are scheduled to be led by others.
    • Manage and delegate assigned tasks accurately, on schedule, and under budget.
    • Understands and anticipates customer needs.
    • Accurately estimates the duration and difficulty of tasks.
    • Ensures the team adheres to a realistic schedule and budget.
    • Seeks opportunities for new work with customers and contractors.
    • Capable of creating scope of work for subcontractors and overseeing execution of subcontractor contract.
    • Independently generates and administers change orders.
    • Demonstrates full understanding of project contracts and specifications.
    • Accurately invoices for project progress and maintains projections.
    • Attends project interviews with BD team for successful project pursuits.
    • Minimizes and mitigates project risk.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • Directly responsible for team members training and development.
    • Provides constructive feedback to team members.
    • Manages team members compensation and time off.
    • Ensure team members are effectively assigned to project tasks.
    • Manages performance and retention of team members.
    • Anticipates and resolves conflicts within team.
