As a Software Engineering Group Manager within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Dallas, TX, Birmingham, AL or Denver, CO.
The Software Engineering Group Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for scaling enterprise capabilities that accelerate software delivery, adoption, and organizational agility. This leader owns the enablement strategy across multiple portfolios, translating business and technology priorities into scalable execution models that drive consistent adoption and measurable outcomes.
This role focuses on enterprise-wide enablement, scaling delivery practices, and embedding agile and AI-driven ways of working, ensuring transformation efforts are not only launched but sustained and continuously improved. The Group Manager will lead through influence, coaching, and technical credibility to elevate engineering maturity across teams and leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
Own and lead enterprise enablement strategy, ensuring consistent adoption of transformation capabilities across portfolios
Design and scale repeatable enablement models, frameworks, and playbooks that reduce variability and improve delivery outcomes
Drive enterprise-wide adoption of standard engineering practices, platform capabilities, and operating models
Identify and eliminate systemic friction across teams, including gaps in ownership, processes, and tooling
Champion and embed agile principles and practices at scale, ensuring alignment across engineering, product, and business teams
Provide hands-on coaching and guidance to engineering leaders, managers, and teams to strengthen execution discipline and delivery predictability
Establish agile maturity benchmarks and continuously improve organizational agility through coaching and measurement
Drive adoption of AI-enabled engineering capabilities to improve developer productivity, code quality, and speed-to-market
Partner with engineering and platform teams to identify opportunities for automation, intelligent tooling, and AI-assisted development
Ensure AI adoption aligns with governance, security, and enterprise architecture standards
Develop and own multi-year enablement and engineering transformation roadmaps
Translate enterprise strategy into sequenced, actionable plans that can be executed across multiple teams and domains
Align portfolios with clear ownership models and prioritized outcomes to accelerate time-to-value
Continuously assess progress against defined KPIs to ensure delivery of business outcomes
Lead through influence across engineering, product, and senior business stakeholders
Serve as a trusted advisor to senior engineering leadership, balancing strategic direction with practical execution insight
Act as a visible champion for adoption, engagement, and cultural change across the organization
Build and develop high-performing teams and leaders, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Strong software engineering background with deep understanding of modern development practices, architectures, and delivery models
