In addition to management skills, you need a firm understanding of the technical aspects of software engineering. Another aspect of this career involves understanding the market and competitor’s products so that your software can compete and meet market demands.

What does a software engineering manager do?

A Software Engineering Manager oversees a team of software engineers, guiding the development of software projects from planning to implementation. They are responsible for managing the team's workflow, ensuring high-quality code, and meeting project deadlines. Their role bridges the gap between technical execution and business objectives, ensuring that software solutions align with strategic goals.

To thrive as a Software Engineering Manager, you need a solid background in software development, team leadership, and project management, often backed by a degree in computer science or a related field. Frontend Developer (React/Next.js)

Modall

Uxbridge, ON

$60K - $80K/yr

Full-time

Re-posted 15 days ago

Job description

About Us

Modall is a software development agency based in Uxbridge, Ontario. We are a high-performance team of five, partnering with large enterprises, professional athletes, startups, and Web3 pioneers. We build MVPs, AI applications, SaaS platforms, and mobile apps that push the boundaries of modern tech.

Our culture is startup-driven and ambitious. The founders have been building businesses together since 2019 and work with high intensity. We are looking for a developer who matches our drive, values deep focus, and wants to play a significant role in a growing company.

The Role

We are looking for a Frontend Developer with a strong command of React and Next.js to join us onsite. This is not a role for someone who wants to hide in the background. You will work directly with the founders and team to create production-ready software.

While this is a collaborative environment, we value autonomy. We are looking for a developer who is ready to take ownership of features, make architectural decisions, and execute with precision.

Key Details:

  • Location: Uxbridge, ON (Strictly On-site)
  • Type: Full-time
  • Pay: $60,000 - $80,000 per year

What You'll Do:

  • Build: Create dynamic, responsive web applications using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. You will also have the opportunity to build mobile apps using React Native (experience preferred, but not required).
  • Collaborate: Work onsite with experienced developers to translate concepts into clean, production-ready UIs.
  • Own: Manage individual project modules from start to finish, determining the best implementation approach.
  • Optimize: Ensure applications are performant, accessible, and cross-device compatible.

Who You Are:

  • You have 'The Eye': You don't just write code; you care about the final user interface and pixel-perfect implementation.
  • You are 'High Agency': You don't need to be micro-managed. You encounter a bug, you research the fix, and you implement it.
  • You are hungry to build: You want to work on cool projects (AI, Web3, SaaS) and you are willing to put in the focused effort required to ship high-quality products.

Requirements:

  • Proven Experience: Proven proficiency in React and Next.js.
  • Version Control: Comfortable using GitHub (branching, merging, PRs).
  • Design to Code: Experience turning Figma designs into robust code.
  • Education: Post-secondary degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering OR equivalent advanced experience/portfolio.
  • Location: Must be able to commute daily to Uxbridge, ON.

Our Tech Stack:

  • Frontend: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, React Native
  • Backend: Node.js, Prisma ORM, PostgreSQL
  • Workflow: Figma, Notion, Jira, Slack

Why Join Modall?

  • Impact: You won't be fixing bugs in legacy code. You will build new products for high-profile clients.
  • Growth: Build products from scratch across multiple industries. You will gain exposure to the entire product lifecycle-from initial strategy, ideation, and design, through to development, DevOps, and QA, and finally post-launch support and feature iterations.
  • Culture: We offer a fast-paced environment where your ideas matter.
  • Perks: On-site gym access, free parking, and a casual dress code.

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • Strictly on-site in Uxbridge, ON.

If you have an entrepreneurial mindset, thrive in a startup-style environment, and want to work alongside other developers to play a meaningful role in both client success and product innovation, this is the role for you.

Employment Type: FULL_TIME
