Job description

At Broadridge, we've built a culture where the highest goal is to empower others to accomplish more. If you're passionate about developing your career, while helping others along the way, come join the Broadridge team.

Role Summary

The Technical Lead will provide hands-on technical leadership for core capabilities and foundational frameworks supporting the strategic BRx Platform. BRx is a modernization initiative focused on simplifying client integration with multiple backend engines, aligning platform services to business capabilities, and enabling scalable, reusable, and resilient technology solutions across the enterprise.

This role combines architecture, software engineering, and delivery leadership. The Technical Lead will guide engineering teams through solution design and implementation, establish practical engineering standards, and work closely with product, architecture, operations, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable platform capabilities. This is a senior individual-contributor role with technical leadership and mentorship responsibilities rather than direct people-management accountability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership for one or more engineering teams delivering BRx Platform capabilities, shared frameworks, reusable services, and integration patterns.
  • Own the technical design, implementation approach, and engineering quality of platform services that simplify client integration across multiple backend engines.
  • Translate business and platform requirements into scalable, resilient, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
  • Partner with product management, architecture, business stakeholders, and dependent engineering teams to refine requirements, identify dependencies, and develop achievable delivery plans.
  • Design, develop, review, test, debug, document, and implement production software and platform capabilities.
  • Lead technical design reviews, establish architecture decisions, and ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, and operational standards.
  • Define and promote engineering practices, frameworks, and patterns that improve reuse, consistency, quality, observability, and developer productivity.
  • Guide teams in Agile delivery practices, including backlog refinement, estimation, technical decomposition, sprint planning, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive technical guidance to maintain high engineering standards.
  • Mentor engineers and SDETs through technical coaching, pairing, design feedback, and support for professional growth.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve complex technical and operational issues across platform capabilities and dependent systems.
  • Ensure services are implementation-ready and operationally sound, including monitoring, alerting, documentation, scalability, resilience, and support procedures.
  • Define and document service-level objectives and contribute to L3 support, incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and on-call readiness for the application suite.
  • Communicate technical decisions, delivery risks, progress, and trade-offs clearly to engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

Position Requirements

  • Experience:10+ years of software engineering experience, including demonstrated experience leading technical design and delivery for complex applications or platform services.
  • Technical Leadership:Experience serving as a technical lead, senior engineer, architect, or equivalent role, with a record of influencing engineering decisions across teams.
  • Technical Skills:Hands-on experience with Java, Spring, Kafka, Camunda, PostgreSQL, and Redis is preferred. Experience with distributed systems, API design, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native or platform engineering practices is highly valued.
  • Hands-on Expectations:This is a hands-on engineering role. The Technical Lead is expected to contribute directly to the codebase, lead design and code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and help unblock delivery of critical work.
  • Collaboration:Strong ability to partner with product managers, architects, engineers, operations teams, and business stakeholders to balance technical quality, delivery commitments, and business outcomes.
  • Operational Ownership:Experience defining service-level objectives, supporting production applications, participating in L3 on-call rotations, and driving incident follow-up and reliability improvements.
  • Communication:Ability to explain complex technical concepts, architecture decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Compensation Range: The salary range for this position is between $200,000.00- $230,000.00 USD.
