Quality Engineering Consultant

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineering Consultant to support software quality assurance, testing, quality audits, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on QA experience, including test planning and execution, test case development, database testing in Microsoft SQL Server environments, and quality assessment or audit experience.

This role will work closely with development teams, business stakeholders, and technical staff to ensure software solutions meet functional, technical, and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review functional and technical design specifications to develop a clear understanding of system testing requirements.
  • Develop and execute formal test plans to validate software applications and system functionality.
  • Create, document, execute, and maintain test cases and test scripts.
  • Participate in test case automation and automated test execution.
  • Perform database testing in Microsoft SQL Server environments, including designing and manipulating test data.
  • Validate stored procedures, jobs, triggers, replication, and related database functionality.
  • Define, track, and report QA metrics, including defects, defect counts, test results, and test status.
  • Document defects and testing issues and work with development teams to support resolution.
  • Facilitate test plan reviews, use case meetings, and testing discussions with development teams and stakeholders.
  • Provide demonstrations of fully tested features to support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Collect and analyze testing and process data to identify opportunities for quality improvement.
  • Integrate quality improvements into business processes to address technical and business needs.
  • Conduct quality audits and assessments across IT functions to verify compliance with established standards, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Deliver quality process training to technical staff and serve as an internal quality consultant.
  • Translate technical requirements into clear test plans, test cases, and testing activities.
  • Apply understanding of business processes and technical requirements to software testing and quality initiatives.
  • Participate in meetings and conference calls with internal, state, and federal stakeholders as needed.
  • Research emerging technologies and evaluate their potential application to project and team objectives.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor''s or Master''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of IT and business experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant Quality Assurance / Quality Engineering technical experience, including systems development, testing, and/or business experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of audit, assessment, quality review, or other relevant experience.
  • Strong experience with software testing, quality assurance, and test planning.
  • Experience with database testing in Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Experience designing and manipulating test data and validating stored procedures, jobs, triggers, and replication.
  • Ability to understand and translate technical requirements into effective test plans and test cases.
  • Strong understanding of both technical aspects of software solutions and related business processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and project leadership.
