Responsibilities
NAME OF THE PETITIONER: Nevada Power Company, d/b/a NV Energy
JOB TITLE: Software Engineer 3
WORKSITE ADDRESS: 6226 West Sahara Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89146
NUMBER OF HOURS/WEEK: 40 hours per week
JOB DUTIES: Architect, design, code, test, document, implement and maintain more complex application programs and interfaces. May act as senior contributor or technical lead on small to mid-sized projects. Provide some leadership for highly complex projects related to the development of new systems, architecture, applications or technology capabilities in support of business goals. Perform project planning, system analysis, software design and coding, testing, documentation, implementation and research activities as necessary for software engineering projects. Provide technical support; problem determination and investigation; implementation of upgrades for developed applications. Enhance existing systems; participate in client walkthroughs and technical design reviews. Assist in systems development planning and monitoring. Participate in design reviews and peer code walkthroughs. Provide client and application support. Perform software development and ensure conformance to performance optimization and interoperability standards and requirements. Work in adherence to secure development lifecycle practices and policies. Perform or assist in the research and fact-finding to develop or modify application programs. Work with vendors to review quality, adaptability, and compatibility of their products. Serve as the subject matter expert and consult with clients on company's IT strategy and business requirements. Collaborate with IT teams from applications and infrastructure to identify technology deficiencies and improvement opportunities in practices and procedures. Stay current with industry standards techniques for software development, and apply them to development, testing, integration, and reporting processes where appropriate. Consult with application users in developing functional/technical specifications. Consult with application users, evaluate user requests for new or modified computer applications and associated interfaces to determine feasibility, cost and time required, compatibility with current systems and computer capabilities. Guide software engineer I/II in the completion of assigned projects. Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor degree, or equivalent, in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field. 5 years of experience in the job offered.
SPECIAL SKILLS OR REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5 years of experience with: Banner Application; ProC and C; AIX/UNIX; Oracle Forms; Oracle Advanced PLSQL; Oracle Performance Tuning; Oracle Reports; Shell Scripting; Production Support; SDLC; Utility Billing/Summary Merge; SAP Crystal Report; and Sleep Wake Processes.
  • 3 years of experience with: PVCS; Meter Inventory; Payment Applications; and XML.
  • 1 year of experience with Banner Data Purge.

ANNUAL SALARY: $122,252-$153,000
BENEFITS: Up to a 15% Short-Term Incentive Plan target opportunity, at the discretion of the company.
