We have an exciting opportunity to join us in supporting one of our valued customers as a Software Engineer, Junior to work out of Offutt AFB, NE supporting the United States Strategic Command (USSTRATCOM/J5)

Job Summary:

The Software Engineer will support mission-critical software modernization, development, and deployment efforts for the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center The Software Engineer, Junior will provide Software Engineering and Development support to the software development teams to design, develop, and maintain secure software solutions, integrate DevSecOps practices, and ensure security and compliance throughout the Software Development Life Cycle while collaborating with agile teams to deliver high-quality, secure software. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on critical national defense systems while working with cutting-edge DevSecOps technologies in a collaborative, mission-focused operational environment.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform system and requirements analysis supporting the Nuclear Planning and Execution System (NPES) operational community, to include analysis of impacts on and from integrated external systems
  • Support preliminary system concept studies/analysis, formulate descriptions of the NPES system architecture, perform detailed requirements analysis, and define product-level/subsystem-level requirements
  • Employ effective techniques to capture, maintain, and trace both explicit NPES user requirements and derived technical requirements.
  • Provide the Government with an analysis of the operational impact of system and software engineering proposed changes to NPES and NPES-related systems.
  • Support the Government during NPES operational activities for Technical Performance Evaluations (TPE), Staff Assistance Visits (SAV), Integrated Mission Area Training (IMAT), communications assessments, continuing evaluation programs, and exercise/real-world events
  • Attend meetings as required in support of planning and analysis activities as required.
  • Participate, as a member of an Agile team, in requirements gathering with knowledge management stakeholders and develop user stories.
  • Assist in identifying and assessing cyber vulnerabilities.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of NPES computers supporting the NAOC, deployed location, and all training servers. This support includes scheduling and de-conflicting NPES server usage, hardware and software installation and delivery, and all NPES testing. At a minimum, this support shall include:
  • Technical Operational Support for daily system management, troubleshooting, quality assurance, problem analysis, and resolution for hardware, software, and interfaces.
  • Assist in identifying and assessing cyber vulnerabilities.
  • Creation of and processing of NSDLs.
  • Training - Shall provide user training for all NPES systems.
  • Conduct hands-on training for local battle staff members and other training as required.
  • Produce an overview briefing for external users to create basic training requirements.

  • Support the Government during scheduled NPES overview briefings and executive demonstrations.
  • Provide Agile Development Test and Evaluation (DT&E) and Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) of NPES and NPES-related software. NPES testing includes scenario database preparation, creation and documentation of test plans and procedures, user story traceability, test tool recommendations, test jigs, data, etc.
  • Perform the OAT and report the daily results in a test report.
  • The performance of these services is considered essential in support of mission-essential functions during real-world crisis events and exercise events. A real-world crisis event will be determined by the appropriate functional commander or civilian equivalent. On-call deployment support shall be required with a one-hour or less response time during real-world crisis events and exercise events.
  • Provide service to the requested organization until the real-world crisis or exercise event is over or the requirement is completed. Shall ensure the appropriate skilled
  • Personnel are available during a crisis for any operational emergency as required by the Mission-Essential Contractor Services Plan.

Required Qualifications:

  • 0-3 years of directly related experience

Education/ Certification:

  • BA/BS in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed; additional years of directly related experience may be used in lieu of education

Required Clearance: Top Secret with SCI eligibility

Travel: TBD
