Software Engineer II Full Stack

Waypoint's client is seeking a Software Engineer II Full Stack to support modernization and development efforts across mission-critical systems. This role focuses on designing, developing, and enhancing full stack applications, with a strong emphasis on front-end development using modern frameworks such as React.

The selected candidate will contribute to building scalable, user-focused applications while supporting backend services, APIs, and system integrations. This role plays a key part in delivering modern, responsive interfaces and ensuring seamless interaction between front-end and back-end components within secure, high-performance environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain full stack applications, with emphasis on responsive and scalable front-end solutions.
  • Develop user interfaces using React and modern JavaScript frameworks.
  • Build and integrate RESTful APIs and backend services to support application functionality.
  • Collaborate with system engineers, developers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the application stack, including UI, API, and database layers.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and code reviews.
  • Ensure applications meet security, performance, and scalability requirements.
  • Support modernization efforts, including refactoring legacy systems into modern web-based architectures.
Required:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in software development.
  • Strong experience with front-end technologies, including React.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience with backend development using Java, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with Git and version control practices.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
Desired:
  • Experience with additional front-end frameworks (e.g., Angular, Vue.js).
  • Experience with database design and management (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across the full stack.
  • Experience working in secure or classified environments.
