ABOUT THE JOB We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design, improve, and maintain the core package set which supports software distribution throughout Anduril. This involves creating internal tooling, establishing standards, planning architectural changes, and supporting users of the package set. You are expected to provide expertise for the usage of Nix at a large scale and assist in training other engineers. You should be capable of operating autonomously with limited oversight in a complex environment, and have the ability to break down intricate problems into simple solutions. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Maintain an internal package set in order to enable software distribution across the company for development, hosted services, and embedded devices * Package open-source and proprietary software components using Nix * Improve developer ergonomics by defining Nix usage standards, creating tooling support, and integrating with developer workflows * Provide assistance, training, and mentorship to other team members REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * Proficiency with Nix, Nixpkgs, NixOS, and functional programming generally * Deep understanding of how build systems and packaging ecosystems work * Ability to dive into large and complicated systems, and use Nix to improve them * Experience with one or more of the following languages: Rust, C++, Go, Python, Haskell * Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience with managing cloud computing resources (eg: AWS) * Experience with modern build and deployment tooling, and continuous integration (e.g. NixOS, Terraform) * Experience designing complex software systems, and iterating upon designs via a technical design review process * Familiarity with industry standard monitoring, logging, and data management tools and best practices * A bias towards rapid delivery and iteration US Salary Range $191,000 - $253,000 USD The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
