Job description

Position Overview
We are looking for a strong Software Engineer with approximately 3–5 years of experience to join Advantest's Factory Automation team. The ideal candidate will have a strong software development foundation with hands-on expertise in Linux, C++, Python, and Tcl/Tk.
Prior semiconductor test, SECS/GEM, or Advantest V93K experience is not required. The manager is willing to train a strong software engineer on the semiconductor factory automation and test-platform technologies needed for the position.
Experience with AI/Agentic AI technologies is a strong plus.
Must-Have Qualifications
Approximately 3–5 years of software development experience
Strong/expert-level Linux experience, including Linux development environments, shell commands/scripts, processes, networking, and troubleshooting
Strong programming experience with C++
Strong programming/scripting experience with Python
Experience with Tcl/Tk or Tcl scripting
Strong software development, analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with customers and cross-functional engineering teams
BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Ability to travel within or outside the U.S. for project integration and customer support

Primary Responsibilities
Develop software solutions supporting SECS/GEM Factory Automation
Participate in requirements discovery, solution design, software development, testing, integration, and customer support
Work directly with customers to understand technical requirements and manufacturing challenges
Support onsite integration, implementation, installation, and troubleshooting
Collaborate with R&D, Services, Sales, and local account teams
Assist with technical pre-sales activities, demonstrations, solution positioning, and customer engagement
Translate technical capabilities into solutions that support customer manufacturing and business objectives

Semiconductor manufacturing or semiconductor test experience
SECS/GEM factory automation
