Work Designation
  • Hybrid: If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, the role will be hybrid. This means you will be expected to work in the office at least 60% of the work week. Remote work will cover the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with leadership.
  • Remote: If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, the role will be remote. This means you will be expected to work from your home within the continental US. Occasional office visits may be requested based on business need; any requests will be communicated in advance.

Responsibilities
  • Define architectural guidelines and best practices.

  • Support the implementation and testing of crossโ€‘functional systems, ensuring that the system meets client and business needs; provide continuous support to internal and external stakeholders experiencing issues with server hardware, operating systems, core infrastructure applications, and related utilities; maintain mainframe operating systems or major subsystems, and associated software and hardware products; handle unresolved support issues across multiple areas of expertise.
  • Proactively monitor projects and existing production applications and core infrastructure to identify ways to improve application availability.
  • Handle unresolved production support issues across multiple areas of expertise and analyze current architecture.
  • Provide design recommendations, develop application and custom integration solutionsโ€”including major enhancements and interfaces; write complex design specifications.
  • Lead ongoing maintenance of mainframe and/or client server applications or tools, depending on previous involvement with projects.
  • Facilitate and ensure onโ€‘time completion of performance, load, functional, and other testing and application vulnerability testing efforts and resolution of issues; develop new crossโ€‘functional software systems using disciplined software development processes.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
  • 6+ years of programming experience.
  • Preferred: Masterโ€™s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
Benefits

Total Rewards: The salary range for this job is $123,000 - $170,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors, including education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation. Compensation decisions are made in good faith based on information known at the time of posting.

In addition to the base salary, benefits include medical, dental, vision, prescription drug coverage, health care flexible spending, dependent care flexible spending, Aflac supplemental policies (Accident, Cancer, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity offered at no cost), 401(k) plans, annual bonuses, and opportunity to purchase company stock.
